In times of grief, we are reminded that the church is not just a building, but a family bound by eternal love. While we feel the deep pain from the loss of Juan, our brother in Christ, we do not walk through this valley alone.
God meets us directly in our grief with His presence. His Word promises us:
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
As a church family, we hold fast to the ultimate hope we share in Jesus. Death does not have the final word, and our separation is only temporary:
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
Romans 14:8
For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
We find great peace knowing that Juan is safely home in the arms of the Savior. Whether in this life or the next, our bond in Christ can never be broken:
Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let us lean on one another, pray for the immediate family, and carry each other's burdens in the days ahead.
