Ann Webb Ballard Obituary

Ann Webb Ballard, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 90.

She was born on September 17, 1935, in Wadesboro, North Carolina, to William Clayton Webb and Mamie Gulledge Webb. Ann grew up in the Deep Creek Community and was a graduate of Wadesboro High School. She went on receiving her teaching degree from Flora McDonald College. Most importantly, Ann was deeply dedicated to her family, always placing their needs above her own and creating a home filled with warmth, care, and unwavering support. Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with pride, and her family was the center of her world. Ann lived a life defined by love, faith, and selflessness.

As a teacher at both Rockingham High School and Richmond Community College, Ann touched the lives of many students with her patience, kindness, and encouragement. She had a natural ability to guide and uplift others, leaving a lasting impression on all who learned from her.

Ann was also known for directing weddings and had a special gift for bringing beauty and order to life’s most meaningful moments. She took great pride in helping couples create joyful and memorable celebrations with care, grace, and attention to detail.

A faithful member of First Presbyterian Church of Hamlet, Ann lived out her faith daily. Her church was not only a place of worship but a community she loved deeply, where she served, supported others, and formed lasting friendships.

Above all, Ann will be remembered for her generous spirit, her unwavering faith, the deep love she gave so freely to her family and friends, and the quiet ways she made life more beautiful to everyone around her.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Samuel Ballard, Jr.; children, Tommy Ballard (Billie Jean) of Angier, Sammy Ballard (Jill) of Mebane, Randy Ballard (Martha Caulder) of Emerald Isle, and Betsy Ballard Moore of Rolesville; her grandchildren, Brett Ballard (Earl Griffin)of Charlotte, NC, Troy Satterfield of Angier, NC, Vance Ballard (Miranda) of Mebane, NC, Hannah Ballard (Sandy Elliott) of Charlotte, NC, Mandi Ballard (Jaron Torain) of Mebane, NC, Mackenzie Stroupe (Nick) of Denver, NC, and Bryce Ballard (Haley) of Graham, NC; sisters-in-law Blanche Webb of Wadesboro, NC, Anita Webb of Matthews, NC, Sandra Ballard of Wilmington, NC, and Diane Stone (Richard) of Shallotte, NC; brother-in-law Bish Ballard (Kay) of Conover, NC and many loving nieces and nephews, along with 7 great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Ginger.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Clayton Webb and Mamie Gulledge Webb; in-laws Samuel Rankin Ballard Sr. and Josephine Lowery Ballard; brothers Wiliam Clayton Webb and James Thomas Webb; brother-in-law Thomas Lowery Ballard, and grandson Horace “Wilson” Moore, IV.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church of Hamlet, NC, at 1:00pm, followed by a graveside service at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham, NC.

The family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 11:00-12:45 in the sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to her grandson’s organization, Wilson’s Wave, First Presbyterian Church of Hamlet, or Richmond County Hospice.

Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
