As we get ready to kick off our Fall Round Pen sessions, we wanted to take a moment to share a little more about what our Round Pens are all about—and why we believe they are such an important part of our church.
In the cowboy world, the round pen is where a horse begins to learn. It’s where trust is built, communication is established, and the basics are taught. Before a horse can go out and do the bigger things, it needs a strong foundation.
We believe our walk with Christ is much the same.
Our Round Pens are places where we can slow down, open God’s Word, ask questions, have honest conversations, build relationships, and grow deeper in our faith. They are places where we can learn, be encouraged, share what we’re walking through, and build a foundation that will carry us through every season of life.
At Stockyard Cowboy Church, we have three different Round Pens, each with its own unique way of studying, connecting, and growing together.
YOUNG ADULT ROUND PEN
Ages 15–25 | Every Tuesday
Our young adults spend time reading through chapters of Scripture together and then digging into what they’ve read. They talk through things they may be confused about or don’t fully understand, share what stood out to them, their takeaways, and their favorite verses.
They work through questions about the actual content of Scripture and, most importantly, how they can apply it to their real lives.
But their time together goes beyond Bible study. They also spend time talking about what’s happening in their lives, what activities they want to do together, and how they can continue to grow their study, strengthen their church, and better serve their community.
It’s a place to learn, ask questions, share life, and grow together in faith.
MEN’S ROUND PEN
Ages 18+ | Every Other Wednesday
The Men’s Round Pen is a place where real life meets God’s Word. The conversations may look different from week to week because they are often shaped by what the men are actually walking through.
Sometimes they talk about the weight of life, family, work, relationships, struggles, and the things men can carry quietly. When someone is battling something or has something on their heart, that can become the starting point for the conversation. From there, they turn to Scripture and explore what God’s Word says about it and how we can live it out in our own lives.
There may be a structured study from time to time, like their 27-week Men’s Boot Camp devotional, but the heart of the group is bigger than a book or a lesson. It’s about creating a place where men can be honest about what they’re facing, encourage one another, and seek God’s wisdom together.
It’s a place to come as you are, bring what you’re carrying, and leave with a stronger foundation in Christ.
WOMEN’S ROUND PEN
Ages 18+ | Every Other Thursday
Our Women’s Round Pen is about more than simply showing up for a Bible study every other week. We want it to be a true life group—a place where women can study God’s Word together while also doing real life together.
Our time together includes Bible study and meaningful conversations, but it also means sitting around the table and catching up on life. We share our prayer requests, praise reports, the things we’re walking through, and even the little things happening in everyday life. It’s a space where we can be real with one another and know that we don’t have to do life alone.
We also want to create opportunities to serve, reach out into our community, fellowship, and have fun together. More than anything, we want to continue dreaming about what Women’s Round Pen can become—a group of women who study God’s Word together, pray for each other, encourage each other, serve together, celebrate the good things, walk through the hard things, and simply do life together.
Three groups. Three different ways to study. One common goal: to grow deeper in our relationship with Christ and build a strong foundation in His Word.

Whether you’ve been part of a Round Pen before or you’ve never stepped into one, there’s a place for you here.
You don’t have to have all the answers. You don’t have to be a Bible scholar. You just have to be willing to step into the pen, open your Bible, and grow.
