Meet Erin Brody (she/her), our 2026-2027 seminarian from Princeton Seminary! Erin will be joining St. Mark for the academic year to learn about congregational ministry, so you'll see her in worship, at faith formation, in some meetings, and in a few other aspects of congregational life. Her first Sunday is coming up on September 6. Here's what Erin writes about herself:

"Hi, everyone! My name is Erin Brody, and I am a second-year student at Princeton Theological Seminary. I am working towards a Master of Divinity and a Master of Christian Education Formation, and I plan on becoming ordained through the ELCA. At PTS, I'm the moderator of The Lutheran Group, co-moderator of the New Testament Student Group, a deacon (kind of like a pastoral resident assistant for seminary residents), and a singer in the Chapel Choir. But before coming to Princeton, I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and attended St. Vincent College (you wouldn't know it... unless you're a Steelers fan) where I studied theology and creative writing. In my nonexistent free time, you can find me reading fiction novels, devising travel plans, or taking walks around Princeton. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with you all!"

Where do our hymns come from on Sunday, anyway? Once a month, Pastor Linnéa Clark and Minister of Music John Kling gather with Worship & Music team chair John Hoge to select them. Hymns are chosen based on their appropriateness for a certain part of the service, their relevance to the day's readings, and their familiarity to St. Mark (you should see John Hoge's hymnal full of notes!). Stylistically, they seek a balance between old and new, familiar and unfamiliar, traditional and contemporary.
