Good morning, everyone! Let me start off first by letting everyone know that we will be celebrating the Lord's Supper this coming Sunday at our regular 9:30 worship service. Please join us!

It is the first day of a new, month-long liturgical "feast". Inspired by Orthodox tradition, many faith communities now observe September 1 to October 4 as "The Season of Creation", a time to contemplate the mysteries and beauty of God's handiwork. A perfect time to celebrate here in the Catskills, don't you think? How lucky we are to be right smack in the middle of God's handiwork during the upcoming weeks. I hate to say "goodbye" to summer; but have to admit that fall is my favorite time of the year. I delight in the glow of all the color.

Lead us, O God,
from the sight of the lovely things of the world
to the thought of You, their Creator;
and grant that delighting in the beautiful things
of Your creation, we may delight in You,
the first author of beauty
and the Sovereign Lord of all Your works,
blessed for evermore.
Amen.

Augustine of Hippo (354-430)

Yet, God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.

A bunch of stuff:

This Sunday is something we call "5th Sunday" -- one of four during the year when Andes Presbyterian, Cabin Hill, Bovina, 1st Presbyterian of Delhi and United Ministry of Delhi gather to worship and praise God together. This Sunday we will gather at the Bovina Presbyterian Church at 10:00 am. Following worship, there will be a dish-to-pass luncheon. Come join us!

Next Sunday (September 6th) Cabin Hill's worship service will be at our usual time -- 9:30 am. We will celebrate the Lord's Supper, so we hope you will join us there.

Today we are gifted with another prayer and scripture to give us strength as we continue our faith journey. I am always inspired and uplifted by these little gifts. I hope you are, too. Have a blessed day.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

On this day, many faith communities remember two 5th century saints from Africa -- Augustine of Hippo and Moses the Ethiopian. They share a similar faith journey -- both became ardent followers of Jesus, later in life.

Eternal God...
You are the light of the minds that know You,
the joy of the hearts that love You,
and the strength of the wills that serve You.

Let us know You,
that we may truly love You,
and love You so that we may fully serve You.

For to serve You is perfect freedom,
in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Augustine of Hippo (354-430)

For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face.
Now I know only in part; then I will know fully,
even as I have been fully known.

Good morning, friends. Tomorrow I will be heading down to the Delaware County Fair to set up my tent and pick up any straggling
jobs the Fair Board needs me to do before the week begins. My thoughts and prayers, however, are never far away from Cabin Hill and all of you. If you are at the Fair, please stop in and see me.

As we begin a new week, our friends who gift us with these special gifts all through the year are blessing us again. As it happens, the scripture passage from Isaiah is the very one that our lay preachers embrace, and that grounds us, as each of us have responded to God's call on our hearts.

On this day, many faith communities remember the devotion and obedience of Mary, the mother of Jesus. May each of us always be listening to God's whisperings on our hearts. Have a wonderful day and a wonderful week.

Life-giving God,
pour Your grace into my heart
and give me a faith like Mary.

When You call me,
may my soul, like hers,
sing of Your greatness.

Lead me to truly believe Your promises
and obey Your will
today, and every day.
Amen.

And then I heard the voice of the Master:
“Whom shall I send?
Who will go for us?”
I spoke up,
“I’ll go. Send me!”

Hi everyone: We are blessed with another prayer and scripture verse today. May God's love surround you and those you love this day.

On this day, many faith communities remember Dominic, a Castillian priest who founded “The Order of Preachers”. Through an austere lifestyle, he encouraged the faithful to deeper study and learning.

May God the Father, who made us, bless us.
May God the Son, who redeemed us,
send healing into our midst.
May God the Holy Spirit, who gives us life, move within us.
May God give us eyes to see God,
ears to hear God,
and hands to bring God’s work into the world.
Amen.

Dominic (1170-1221)

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, so that by steadfastness and by the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope.

Good morning, friends. Along the way, we are gifted with a poem/prayer/scripture. This is one of those days. On this day, many faith traditions remember Mary Magdalene, one of the first followers of Jesus, and a witness to the resurrection. To those who say that women have no place in the pulpit, I say, take it to Mary Magdalene and discuss it with her -- the WOMAN who, had she not told the story of seeing the resurrected Christ, we would not know that it happened.

O sweet and loving God,
when I stay asleep too long,
oblivious to all Your many blessings,
then, please, wake me up, and sing to me Your joyful song!

It is a song without noise or notes.
It is a song of love beyond words,
of faith beyond the power of human telling.

I can hear it in my soul,
when You awaken me to Your presence.
Amen.

Mechthild of Magdeburg (c.1207-c.1294)

..for the light makes everything visible. This is why it is said,
“Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light.”

I know this after the fact; but due to some surgery aftermath completions, we had to cancel worship at Cabin Hill last Sunday. I am so very sorry about that. The baptism of Violet Grace Roe will take place in September (date to be decided upon). I thank everyone for their patience and their prayers. I'm healing. It's just taking a bit longer than I'd hoped.

07/12/2026

Good morning, friends! A bit of amazing news. Next Sunday (7/19) we will be baptizing Violet Grace Roe during our 9:30 worship service. Please join us as we bless this beautiful child of God and make our promise to walk beside her on her faith journey.
Have a blessed day!

On another note: On this day, many faith communities remember Nathan Söderblom, an advocate for ecumenism and the first Christian cleric to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. Click the tab below the scripture passage to learn more about his life and work.

Not I, but Christ in me.
Not my will, but Yours be done.
Not my glory, but Yours.
Amen.

Nathan Söderblom (1866-1931)

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Good morning!
Today is Trinity Sunday, when many "western" Christians celebrate the doctrine of the Trinity -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If you hurry, you will be able to join us in time for worship at Cabin Hill at 9:30. We will be celebrating with 3 other churches and there will be a pot luck dinner following our worship service.

God, whose fingers sculpt sun and moon
and curl the baby’s ear;

Spirit, brooding over chaos
before the naming of day;

Saviour, sending us to earth’s end
with water and words:

startle us with the grace, love, and communion
of Your unity in diversity
so that we may live to the praise
of Your majestic name.
Amen.

Good morning. Come welcome the Holy Spirit at worship this morning at Cabin Hill Presbyterian Church (9:30) and DeLancey Presbyterian Church (11:00). Today, many Christians celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit - it is the "Feast of Pentecost"!
May God's Holy Spirit be upon you this day and every day.

Come, O Holy Spirit!
Come as Holy Fire and burn in us,
come as Holy Wind and cleanse us within,
come as Holy Light and lead us in the darkness,
come as Holy Truth and dispel our ignorance,
come as Holy Power and enable our weakness,
come as Holy Life and dwell in us.

Convict us, convert us, consecrate us,
until we are set free from the service of ourselves,
to be Your servants to the world.
Amen.

John Henry Newman (1801-1890)

------------------------------------------------------------

“...if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead? Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
