This Sunday will also be a special one as we officially welcome Matthew Brown as our new Music Director! We will be providing a deli tray and finger sandwiches, and we’re looking for volunteers to bring salads, chips, or desserts to share.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: Please Be Vigilant 🚨

We’ve recently learned that some members of our church community have received scam emails and text messages that appear to come from our pastor, staff, or other church leaders. These messages are fraudulent. The important news: our church email and communication accounts have NOT been hacked. Scammers are simply spoofing names to make their messages look legitimate.

⚠️ Please be especially cautious of messages that:
-Ask you to purchase gift cards or send money.
-Request money through services such as Western Union.
-Urgently ask for your help with a vague request.
-Ask for a copy of the church directory or personal contact information.
-Use a familiar name but come from a suspicious or unofficial email address.

🛡️ What should you do?
-Check the actual email address, not just the sender’s name.
-Never send money, gift cards, or wire transfers in response to an unexpected message.
-Verify requests for the church directory or personal information directly with the church.
-When in doubt, contact the church office directly before taking action.

If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts and check with us first. Thank you for helping us keep our church community safe and looking out for one another! ❤️

🔨✨ TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY! ✨🔨

What started as our nursery space has gone through quite the transformation, and we’re excited to show you the journey! Swipe through our slideshow to see the progress from the very beginning to the beautiful, accessible space we have today.

This project has been an important step toward making our church more welcoming and accessible to everyone in our community. 💙

A huge thank-you to everyone who helped make this transformation possible, through planning, hard work, donations, and support. We’re so grateful!

Today, we’re taking a moment to look back and say thank you to our former Music Director and Organist, Lynda Pedersen, for her many years of dedicated service to Mount Carmel Congregational Church. Lynda’s music became such an important part of our worship experience. Through her talent, creativity, and love of music, she helped shape the sound and spirit of our services and created countless meaningful moments for our congregation.

Her final service with us was on June 28, and while we were sad to see her chapter at Mount Carmel come to a close, we are incredibly grateful for all that she has shared with our church over the years. Music has a special way of bringing us together, lifting our spirits, and helping us connect with something greater, and Lynda shared that gift with us Sunday after Sunday.

We are grateful for all the time, talent, and heart she gave to our church, and we’re happy to look back on the memories and music she helped create. Thank you, Lynda, for helping make a beautiful soundtrack to so many years of worship at Mount Carmel! 🎹❤️

Today, Mount Carmel Congregational Church joined churches and communities across the nation in the Ringing of the Bells for America 250.

As a congregation founded in 1757, we are deeply aware that the story of our nation is one of both great hope and ongoing growth. As our church bells rang today, we gave thanks for those who came before us, remembered the sacrifices that have shaped our shared history, and offered prayers for our nation.

We pray that God will continue to guide us in the work of justice, compassion, reconciliation, and peace, helping us to love our neighbors and care for one another as Christ has called us to do.

In honor of Lynda Pedersen and her many years of faithful service to our church, we will be holding a special luncheon on her final Sunday, June 28, immediately following worship. The church will be providing a catered meal from Tonino’s, including pizza, pasta, and a chicken dish. Please join us as we gather in fellowship to celebrate Lynda and express our gratitude for her dedication to the life of our church over the years.

We will have another round of three Saturdays of Bible Study on May 23, 30, and June 6 from 10:30-12:00 in the Church Parlor. This time we will be looking at the Psalms, which were the hymns of the Hebrew people. They speak to most any emotion, so we will look at “Songs in a Major Key” (psalms of praise), “Songs in a Minor Key” (psalms of lament), and “Songs in a New Key” (psalms of restoration and hope). Each week will stand on its own, so come for whatever fits your schedule. We hope to see you there!

Join the Mount Carmel Shirts and Skirts for their annual Indoor Picnic, scheduled for Tuesday, May 19 at 5pm! This is a potluck event, so please bring your own picnic supper. Paper goods, desserts, beverages, and entertainment will be provided. Please come and join in for an evening of fun and fellowship.
