St. Matthew's UCC We are a welcoming Church at the edge of Hamburg, NY; we worship at 10am on Sundays. St.

We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, God still speaks through Holy Scripture, and we are called to be a Body of Christ, rejoice in Christ’s love and live out our faith! Matthew’s United Church of Christ is a community of faith, founded on the two-fold command of Jesus to love God and love neighbor. We aren’t interested in telling people how they should vote or who they can love. We believe church

is not for people who have all the answers or who have perfect lives. We belong to church because we’re hungry and in worship and community we find food for the journey. We believe that being the church is more than hymns and Sunday mornings; it’s service and care for those in need. Whoever you are and wherever you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here.

As you know, we started making Prayer Shawls last year to wrap the people in our community in Love - whether they are experiencing loneliness, facing illness, needing comfort or encouragement, etc…

Months ago, the UCCNY Conference Leadership offered free registration to the Annual Meeting for the Pastor and Lay Delegate of the church that made the most prayer shawls in the past year as a way of encouraging us.

We are pleased to share that as a congregation and community, we’ve made and given out over 75 prayer shawls - the most of any Church across the UCC New York Conference!

We know that winning contests isn’t *why* we are making shawls, but it is wonderful to know our time and talents are recognized and making a difference.

Thank You for using your time and talents to show others they are loved. Thank You for supporting this mission. ❤️

Four years ago, someone chose to express their beliefs and values through violence. Several lives were lost, and countless others were shattered - and this is not an isolated incident.

As we pray for all who are in need of comfort as they grieve, as we speak words of peace and love - may we offer more than just our thoughts and prayers. May we seek ways to beat swords into plowshares or guns into gardening tools - to create a better future, now, because we are truly better together! Amen.

Today is Mother’s Day (also known as Mothering Day); for many of us, it is a day filled with warmth, gratitude, and love for the people in our lives who have embraced us, nurtured us, and been a mothering presence in our lives.
It is also a day that can be bittersweet or difficult for many of us, for a multitude of reasons.

Whoever you are, and wherever you are on life's journey - we see you. We hope you know you are loved, and that you will be blessed. ❤
