Jesus Christ has His hand in all of our lives, like little rays of light sent to help us. Here is a moment that Christ's light shined into someone's life:
A few years ago I had the opportunity to visit a community in Honduras with a group of friends from the church to celebrate el día del niño (Children's Day) and all of the children in the community.
We planned to celebrate with piñatas, games, food, and dessert and planned for about 30 kids. We gathered games and all the things that bring happiness to a child on their day.
To prevent any surprise we organized enough supplies for 50 kids; this was almost double than the amount that had been confirmed.
We were very happy and excited for the activity.
When they arrived in the community, on a soccer field there had been wooden benches made and we prepared everything for a wonderful children's party so the children would have a nice day.
We welcomed them with energy and excitement. However when we went down to the vehicles we saw that there weren't 30 kids like we had been told, nor were there 50 kids like we had prepared for. There were about 80 kids and about the same amount of adults. There were easily 150 people in total. We were filled with worry and were a little sad to know that all of the things we brought wouldn't be enough.
However we knew we brought a message and the love of the Savior to this community. My friends and I said a prayer away from the group and asked the Father that the kids that wouldn't receive food, or a toy, or dessert, that we were already certain wouldn't be enough, wouldn't feel upset and that they would remember the most important thing, the message that the Savior loves the children.
During the distribution of the food, toys, dessert, and everything we brought, we could see the miracle with our own eyes, that not a single child was left without a toy or food, and that even the adults had enough to eat.
We were sure that our Savior was with us and that He did the same miracle he did to feed the 5000 with the loaves and fishes.
I know He lives, I know that He intercedes with the Father for us, even if it seems that the request was simple.
When we do all that is in our power and we have the desire to serve and love our neighbor, He is with us and does what we can't to carry out the work.
I testify of His love for us in His holy name, Jesus Christ, amen.
