Today we honor and celebrate mothers — and all women whose love, faith, sacrifice, and quiet discipleship bless families, wards, and communities every day.

President Russell M. Nelson taught:
“Mothers are essential to God’s great plan for the happiness of His children.”

And President Gordon B. Hinckley said:
“God could not be everywhere, so He gave us mothers.”

We express gratitude today for mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, foster mothers, future mothers, and all women who nurture and strengthen others through Christlike love.

This is one of 250 truckloads of foods being delivered to all 50 states in commemoration of America's 250th Anniversary.

What a wonderful day celebrating

Today, we had the incredible opportunity to share resources with the Maryland Food Bank – Western Branch and America's Hauling for Hope as part of the America 250 initiative. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is providing 250 truckloads of food across the country to commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and to encourage all to serve your neighbor using JustServe.org—and today, Western Maryland received one of those trucks!

It was inspiring to see so many people come together to serve and uplift our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible.

A special thank you to Robin Summerfield for representing U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen and for being part of this meaningful event.
