He has made everything beautiful in its time. - Ecclesiastes 3:11

Flowers are considered beautiful in every
culture. Yet they bloom for only a short time.
The majority of their lives are spent growing
into that one spectacle of color. We’re like
that, too. Sometimes we aren’t at our best.
That’s ok. A time is coming for us to shine.

Right now, you may be struggling. Parts
of your life might not be going well. Maybe
it’s a problem with a friend, or school, or
work. Whatever it is, our faith points to
hope. In the face of our present problems,
God is working to make it better. Would it
make a difference to trust that God has an
awesome plan for you?

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. - Matthew 11:28

For many of us, rest is hard to come by. We
busy ourselves with all the day-to-day work
of our lives, then we fill every other second
with as much entertainment as we can find.
What we need is an occasional break from
all our activity. We need rest. When we
come to God, God promises to give us rest.
Take some time today to be refreshed.

We often think we need something more
than just us to make us different or special.
Maybe it’s something we put on, or
something we do. The truth is, we don’t
need anything to make us unique or special.
We already are. What we need is to strip
away all the distractions and live as we are
created to be. The best way to do that is by
spending time with the person who created
us. Think today about what distracts you
from who you truly are.

Have you ever tried to count your blessings?
Actually, listed them out. The small ones:
food, air, relatively good health. The big
ones: being loved, cared for, appreciated at
least by someone. All of those, every one,
are gifts from God. Takes some time today
to be thankful.

It might be noisy today. It might be chaotic.
It might be hectic. It might be random. It
might be filled with groans, and eye rolls, and
sighs. It is also filled with the voice of God
who wants to speak directly into your soul.
Take some time to be quiet.
