“Marriage should be honored by all…” — Hebrews 13:4

Why are we putting so much emphasis on marriage?

Because marriage is about more than two people building a life together. In Ephesians 5, Scripture shows us that marriage was designed to reflect something much greater—the relationship between Christ and His Church.

When we do marriage well, we give the world a front-row seat to what that relationship looks like.

In today’s Morning Minute, Pastor Mark shares why strengthening marriages matters so deeply and why our upcoming Marriage Conference isn’t only for couples who are struggling. Whether you’ve been married for 50 years, you’re newlyweds, engaged and preparing for marriage, or you’re single and want to better understand God’s design for marriage, there is something here for you.

At a time when divorce continues to impact an alarming number of Christian marriages, God’s Word calls us back to something different: “Marriage should be honored by all.” Scripture reminds us of God’s heart for the marriage covenant and the seriousness with which He views divorce (Malachi 2:16).

Marriage matters because of what it represents.

Our marriages have an opportunity to give the world a glimpse of Christ’s faithful, sacrificial love for His Church.

What does it really mean to sacrifice?

In 2 Samuel 24:24, David refuses to offer to the Lord something that costs him nothing. That same principle is at the heart of our Month of Sacrifice this September.

Pastor Shane introduces a challenge for our church family: prayerfully choose something you would normally spend money on and intentionally give it up. Maybe it’s eating out, a daily coffee, entertainment, or another purchase. Some may choose to give extra, sell something they no longer need, or donate something the church can use.

The amount isn’t the point. The sacrifice is.

Throughout September, we’re asking God to show us what we can willingly lay down so that we can give with greater purpose—and experience together what God can do through a church willing to sacrifice.
