West End Baptist Chapel

West End Baptist Chapel We are a Southern Baptist Church teaching our members how to be Committed Followers of Christ. We believe God created people to be His sons and daughters.

We also believe God desires us to have the same kind of relationship He has with His Son and Spirit. Mankind, however, has chosen to separate himself from God, therefore he is dead spiritually. Because God is love, He sent His son Jesus to take away our sin and give us eternal life. This new life is what we must now allow to flow through us. We can only live the Christian life if we allow Jesus to

live His life in us. This does not require self effort but a daily surrender of ourselves to Him. We now live His life by faith. This is the good news we proclaim at West End Baptist Chapel.

Tomorrow is a huge day at West End Baptist Chapel. We have some surprises at our 10:30 worship celebration. After the service is over, we will transition to Teeter Park in Waynesboro for our church picnic and baptismal. The park is located at 11708 Country Club Road. We are asking each family to bring a dish to share, lawn chairs, and kids to bring their swim suits. We will be eating around 1:30!

Jesus made an astonishing statement in John 8. He told the religious leaders that Abraham rejoiced to see His day and then declared, “Before Abraham was born, I am.” But when did Abraham ever see Jesus?

In this Morning Minute, we trace the account back to Genesis 18–19 where Yahweh appeared to Abraham, spoke with him face to face, and then brought judgment upon S***m. We also examine the Angel of Yahweh at the burning bush and connect it to Jesus’ powerful “I AM” declaration in John 8.

Could the Old Testament have been revealing distinction within Yahweh long before the incarnation? Join us as we compare Scripture with Scripture and see how the Bible consistently points us to Christ.

Scriptures Used:
• John 8:53–59
• Genesis 18:1–2
• Genesis 18:16–21
• Genesis 19:1–2
• Genesis 19:24
• 1 Kings 8:1
• Exodus 3:2–6
• Exodus 3:14

As parents, grandparents, and church families, we invest so much into the next generation. From upcoming ministries like Good News Camp and Vacation Bible School to weekly worship services and Bible studies, we want to see our children grow into men and women who love and follow Christ.

In today’s Morning Minute, Pastor Shane begins in Proverbs 22:6, reminding us of the biblical responsibility to intentionally train up our children in the way they should go. But that training doesn’t happen only at church—it happens every day in our homes.

Carolyn Elgin then joins the conversation and connects Proverbs 18:21 to this important truth: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Our words carry tremendous influence. The things we repeatedly speak over our children can encourage, strengthen, guide, and point them toward God’s purpose for their lives.

Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, teacher, or mentor, this devotional offers a timely reminder that one of the most powerful tools God has given us to shape the next generation is our speech.

Let’s be intentional about speaking life, truth, encouragement, and God’s promises into the hearts of our children.
