Attention!!!!!
Money raised from the food sales at the upcoming Union Schoolhouse Poker Chip Run on October 7th will be donated to the Union Cemetery.
The Poker Chip Run has gathered a large crowd the last two years and raised a lot of money for upkeep and renovation/restoration of the Union Schoolhouse. We want to give back to the Mt. Levi community and the cemetery needs money for much needed repairs and maintenance.

Maybe someone would like to help out by donating some of the following items to be served at the Poker Chip Run……

•Coke, Water, Mt. Dew, Sprite
•Napkins
•Individual bag BBQ Chips
•Individual bag plain chips
•Baby Rays BBQ Sauce any flavor
•Bush’s 117 Oz can Bake Beans

We are also needing two more volunteers to help serve food the day of the poker chip run.
Please help if you’re able. Let’s make this a yearly fundraiser to improve our local cemetery.

The grass got a trim this morning.

I’m so thankful that the creek crossing is smoothed up. It was so rough crossing it before with a trailer and lawnmower.

Union Cemetary Decoration-1942. Picture taken in front of the Union schoolhouse.
Written by DeMona (Beasley) Reeves for the Johnson County Historical Journal.

The little girls dressed alike on the front row are my cousin Nedra (Casey) Thompson and me DeMona (Beasley) Reeves.
My mother made the dresses for us and we had both learned some sort of poems. Mine was a long one and Nedra did a short one. An old lady came
up to her and told her how well she did and how smart she was to learn two pieces....... I was so mad!!!!!
The old gentleman on one knee you may recognize as Dr. Graves. The women is my grandmother Susie Beasley.
One of the two old ladies on the left is Mrs. Graves and the lady between them is Velna Graves Bean. I attended Union one year in 1942 and she was the teacher.
The lady in the middle of the top row with the big white hat is Maudie Poteet Gillian and the man in the white hat next to her is my grandfather 'Bum' Beasley.
I think the fourth lady from the left in black hat is Becky Cox and the man in the black hat next to her is Bruce Cox. Two of the little girls in front of Bruce are Billy Jo and Geneva Clayborn.
Behind Mr. Cox the lady holding the blonde boy is Jean Graves and her husband Howard is to Mr. Cox's left. That may be my aunt Bertie Cox behind Mrs. Cox.
The gentleman in the cap and suspenders on the far right is Henry Thomas.
I would like to know who the elderly gentleman with the beard is.......
