The River Mission service and dinner for tomorrow (February 22nd) has been cancelled. Quite a storm headed our way. Snow will start Sunday morning and the storm intensifies Sunday night and into Monday. We could see a foot and a half of snow by storm's end Monday. Wind picking up as well. There is a state of emergency in New Jersey going into effect Sunday at noon. If you need shelter, call 211. The Bergen County Health and Human Services Center (The Shelter) is located at 120 South River Street in Hackensack. Please stay safe!

The Bergen County Housing, Health, & Human Services Center (The Shelter) is located at 120 South River Street in Hackensack. You can also call the Bergen County Public Safety Operations Center at 201-753-7762, or call 2-1-1 for information about finding shelter.
Temps will plunge through the overnight, and continue to drop during the day to about 11 degrees by late afternoon Saturday.
This weekend we'll experience 30-40mph winds around the state with gusts to 50+, making it feel like 15 degrees BELOW ZERO. With conditions like this, it only takes 10-15 minutes outside to develop Frost Bite on exposed skin.
We could also get an inch or so of snow overnight.

A Code Blue Alert is being extended in Bergen County through Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at noon.

According to the National Weather Service (1) the temperature will reach 32 degrees Fahrenheit or lower; or (2) a wind chill temperature of zero degrees Fahrenheit or less for a period of two (2) hours or more.

Emergency food distribution today (November 6th) at Overpeck Park. Details in the post below.

In partnership with The Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Bergen County and the Bergen County Office of Food Security will be hosting an emergency food distribution event on Thursday, November 6, at Overpeck County Park in Leonia, to assist SNAP recipient households and furloughed federal employees.

Distribution will begin approx. at 10AM. Assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is strongly encouraged.

Distribution is Drive-Thru Only. Participants may enter Overpeck County Park at 40 Fort Lee Rd., Leonia, NJ, 07605.

To receive assistance, participants must provide:
- Physical proof of Bergen County residency
- A valid SNAP/NJ Families First Card or Federal Employee ID Card

Eligibility guidelines will be strictly enforced.
