Ready, Set, Move! Gwinn Vacation Bible School – July 27-29

This summer, alongside Gwinn-United Methodist Church and our fellow Christian communities here in Gwinn and Sawyer, there will be a Vacation Bible School open to kids from the ages of 3-11, on July 27th-29th (Thursday-Saturday) at Peter Nordeen Park. A meal will be served on each day (dinner on Thursday and Friday, lunch on Saturday), and every day we will play games, make crafts, and learn what it means to follow a Jesus who loves everybody!

July 27: 5-8:30 PM in Peter Nordeen Park
July 28: 5-8-30 PM in Peter Nordeen Park
July 29: 12-3:30 PM in Peter Nordeen Park

Pastor Jack has started a new podcast with Pastor Alex LaChapelle (Prince of Peace-Harvey), "Pulpit Supply with Jack and LaChap"!

Our description:
Pulpit Supply with Jack and LaChap is a collaboration between two working pastors, Pr. Jack Busche and Pr. Alex LaChapelle, who wanted to get together more often to catch up, laugh, and talk through our weekly lectionary texts as we prepare for each Sunday. Join us as we work through the lectionary year together, one week at a time.

Each episode is about a half hour, and is currently available on Spotify. We hope to upload new episodes every two weeks, as we read the texts for those upcoming Sundays. We hope you enjoy!

Garden at Grace Lutheran!

This spring, Steve Finley from the Gwinn Seed Library approached Pastor Jack and Council to ask whether our church would be willing to give space to a garden for the Gwinn Seed Library. In his proposal, Gwinn Seed Library would provide seeds, fencing, equipment, and planning, and Grace would be able to keep 90% or more of the harvest (a small portion being set aside by Gwinn Seed Library for the purpose of saving seed). Steve also asked for a small group of volunteers from Grace to help maintain the garden through the summer. A big thank you to our six volunteers: Bill Irving, Lynette Broxson, Scott Pynnonen, Becky Marjonen, Dave Marjonen, and Janie Marjonen.

Now, the garden has been planted with everything from pole beans to watermelon, the fencing has been put up, and woodchips have been put down between the rows. By the end of the summer, we hope to have a harvest that can be used for community meals, Social Outreach Meal Kits, and for the church pantry for those in need. Thank you again, to our volunteers, and to our church community for making this possible!

Feeding America - May 24th

This post is a bit late(!!), but this is a delayed public thank you to all our volunteers who helped pull off our last Feeding America Mobile Pantry distribution on Wednesday, May 24th. With your help, we were able to serve 266 households, made up of 700 individuals! Thanks to all who support this ministry, through your labor, time, and donations!
