No Limits Neuromuscular Camp was first started by the Griffin family in 2010. Happy and his wife, Jamie, saw a need for a camp where adults with neuromuscular disorders (muscular dystrophy) could enjoy a week connecting with others who had similar diagnoses and share a week in which their diagnosis would not limit their ability to participate in summer camp activities. In partnership with Central
Christian Camp and the Make Promises Happen program, the camp was created. Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle wasting disease, which causes weakness of the muscles and limited mobility. Other physical ailments, such as breathing or cardiac issues, can also be a component of the muscle-wasting nature of the disease. There are many forms and variants of neuromuscular diseases that result in a range of abilities or needs amongst people with neuromuscular diagnoses. No Limits Neuromuscular Camp provides a week in which campers can come together, connect with others living with similar diagnoses, and live with no limitations. Volunteer counselors are assigned to a camper and assist them for the entire week with any needs they may have, Campers are able to do many camp activities that are accommodated to them, such as swimming, ziplining, power soccer, archery, paintball, dancing, and performing at a talent show. To connect with our camp, follow us on Facebook and Instagram and email us at [email protected] to be included in newsletter updates.
