What a week of VBS!

So much fun. So many memories. And so many lives changed.

None of this was possible without our 69 incredible volunteers. From the team that decorated before the week even started to those who served with the kids, every one of you helped plant seeds of the gospel in young hearts. Thank you!

Jim has been part of the Lakeland community for 12 years — 10 of them as an usher. For him, there's nothing better than warmly greeting people as they walk into a worship service. Some Sundays he sees familiar faces. Other Sundays he meets someone brand new — someone who may have mustered up every ounce of courage just to walk through the doors. Whoever they are, Jim hopes he can be a bright spot in their morning.

Jim knows how easy it can be to feel isolated at church. Without his place on the ushering team, he'd feel the same way. But serving here has given him a real sense of belonging. He gets to be the hands and feet of Christ — and pour into the church family that pours into him.

Jim, thank you for serving your church family so well. We are so grateful for you!

When you think of God, do you think of Him as beautiful?

Yesterday, Pastor Tre left us with this question, and it’s brought to mind this quote from Tim Keller: “You don’t go to God because He’s useful; you go to Him because He’s beautiful. And nothing is more beautiful than finding God beautiful. The most rapturous delights you ever had are like dewdrops compared to the bottomless ocean of joy that it will be to see God face-to-face. That is what we are in for!”

This week, we want to challenge you. Whether you see a summer sunset, enjoy a nice meal, or experience fun fellowship, pray this simple sentence: God you are beautiful. And then just sit in His beauty.

How well do you know the Moores?

Before joining the Lakeland staff, Tre served as the Executive Director of IREF, one of our missions partners, and he and Meg carry a deep passion for sharing the gospel around the world. They've traveled to 6 countries together in the last few years, with India holding a special place in their hearts. Tre is a die-hard Chicago sports fan, they love their golden retriever Rizzo, and they recently welcomed their first child, Warren Frank Moore IV.

The Moores have been part of the Lakeland family for years. We can't wait to see what God does through them next.
