I try to love all who profess that they also know and love Christ. I try to also love those who reject Christ. In John 13:35 we’re told that one way that sinners (the world) will know that we are disciples of the Lord Jesus…is if we have love for each other.

We may not all have the same doctrine, many may be seeking a greater understanding of the scriptures, and that’s good. We must all continue to grow spiritually, and remain teachable, and that doesn’t mean we compromise Bible truth(s), but we must also be able to get along with each other even when differences arise. The body of Christ is greater and more encompassing than many of us may have realized or acknowledged up until now. However, genuine unity in the Lord God…is exactly what we need. So, whether or whatever someone who names and claims Christ Jesus, is, we should still be willing to embrace each of them as a brother of sister in the Lord. 🙏🏽🕊🌍🗡💙

Resurrection Sunday is coming up soon. We invite you to celebrate the Lord and His victory over sin, death, hell and the grave! This Sunday we begin at 11:00 AM with worship and singing and then a Bible sermon. Everyone is invited!

We will have something for the children (after dismissal from our service), and depending on the weather, we may just have to hand it out versus any actual hunting taking place.

On tomorrow…

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this, but the underlining is that God gets the glory! So, with that said, we are mourning, along with all of the family and friends, the passing of Bishop Curtis Shelton. He passed from this life earlier this morning. He has gone on to be with the Lord! Praise God!

My family and I loved him. The local Church here loved him. He loved our family, and he loved the local Church body here at the Unity COGOP! Those two things I am assured of. Even greater still, he loves Jesus! He preached Christ and Him crucified, and he loved the Church that Jesus set in order while walking the face of the earth. He and Sis. Sarah Shelton pastored for over 50 years in the Church of God of Prophecy.

Two things I’ll share quickly about Bishop C. Shelton. One day while visiting with him when he was a patient in the hospital, he said this to me: “you’re my pastor and I love you and support you all the way.” Those were some of the greatest words ever spoken to me by anyone during my nearly 23 years in ministry. One reason being, I was the first pastor he had in over 50 years, and once he retired he stayed on here as a (faithful) member. Never did he do anything but pray for, support, and love on my family and I. The second and final thing I’d like to share, is Brother Shelton embraced me as an equal. That is a rare thing in ministry. He never treated me as if I was less than, and he greater than. Although, I had and still do have the utmost respect for him, and I am so thankful that he counted me as a Brother in Christ, as a colleague in the Lord’s work, and as his under-shepherd.

This was a remarkable man who believed in the Bible, it’s doctrine, and never shied away from the Truth! There is something to be said for any man like that in the day and time we live in. Thank you for being a terrific example of what a faithful and loving minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ ought to be, Bishop Shelton! Enjoy Heaven and spending time with the Savior! I love you and I hope to make it to where you are. Amen!

With all sincerity and humility of heart, before the month closes out, I wanted to quickly post something regarding our six years here at this pastorate.

Thank you to every part of our congregation here at the Unity COGOP, both members and non, we appreciate every hug, kind word, love offering, and expression of love over the past six years! Truly, thank you. As we close out this appointment (officially), and tomorrow begin the next year under a new appointment, we pray and hope for the Lord to continue to guide and direct us here. I could never have done anything that has been done without the flock here, because every person is necessary and vital. My family and I love you all with the love of Christ Jesus! I will continue to seek the face of the Father for direction and help as to where we go from this point moving forward.

I could never have done anything here without my loving wife and our three terrific children, they are crucial to all that gets done, and I appreciate their willingness and assistance here over the years.

Most of all, all glory goes to the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost! I have done my best to be fully submitted to the Lord in all things, and will continue to do so. I believe that doctrine and theology matter, and I hope and pray that each person that has attended Church here during our pastorate to this point can openly say that they have been fed by the Word, and grown in their relationship and walk with Christ!

The next 10 months or so will determine much for us all, and we will continue to labor for the Master and be available to everyone as we have always attempted to be. We need you! We need the presence of the Lord! We need new families for the vitality of this local Church, too. Please continue to pray and fast for the Lord to be able to have His way and direct the local body here. Amen!

The Lincoln family loves and appreciate each one of you immensely! Again, thanks to each of you for what you’ve done for our family.

We just got back home from dropping off several cards, plus the goodies my wife made for all dad’s that attended service today (homemade chocolate covered Oreos in a customized box), to the home of Bishop Curtis and Sis. Shelton. She was napping when we arrived, so we just left the bag there not wanting to wake her. Hopefully she’ll wake up surprised!

These two precious members are in my daily prayers, and we ALL love and appreciate them. Although he is retired, and currently undergoing some health issues, they are NEVER ever forgotten by this pastoral family or this congregation. I know that most of the cards contain either a gift card, a check or cash, and we sincerely hope it’ll all bless them and be an encouragement to them. Thank you to each and every one who was able to help make this possible! Thank you for your giving hearts and thoughtfulness!

We love you both and pray for you daily, as well as for Beverly!
