ASL CAMP WEEK 🕺🏻

LOCAL | A local summer camp is teaching kids more than just a new language.

While most summer camps focus on sports or arts & crafts, this one is teaching kids an entirely different way to communicate. At the de l'Epee Deaf Center, campers are spending the week learning American Sign Language.

Tomorrow may be Grayson’s 16th birthday, but according to our recent poll, birthday celebrations should last all month long and we couldn’t agree more!

On May 7, our coordinator, Rachel Ryan, celebrated her graduation from the inaugural GivHer Circle Young Philanthropist Cohort!

As part of the Cohort, each of these amazing women earned BoardBuild Nonprofit Governance Certification. Gulf Coast Community Foundation is especially grateful to the Mississippi Alliance of Nonprofits and Philanthropy for making this opportunity possible.

Today is a special day to acknowledge the tireless efforts of Sign Language Interpreters who work relentlessly to bridge the communication gap between the Deaf and hearing communities. Share this with all the amazing Sign Language Interpreters you know! Without their love, dedication, and advocacy, our Deaf community would not have the accommodations they rightfully deserve and need to become successful members of society. From facilitating communication in educational settings to ensuring equal access in sports, healthcare, employment, and social services, interpreters play a vital role in breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity. They are the unsung heroes who work behind the scenes to empower Deaf individuals to reach their full potential. So let's take a moment to express our gratitude and appreciation for all that they do!
