Good News has ministers in Ukraine. Yesterday I received the message below.
The war rages on and we all know by now how desperate the situation has become in parts of Ukraine.
For over seventeen years, Good News Jail & Prison Ministry has been ministering in the city prison in Dnipro located 296 miles southeast of the capital city, Kyiv, and operating a re-entry and rehabilitation center for those released from prison.
As of today, March 22, 2022, the city has not been directly impacted by fighting but businesses have shut down and the situation in the prison has worsened with lack of food a growing concern. Refugees fleeing the fighting are passing through Dnipro daily.
Our three-man team (Pavel, Vladmir, Sergey) and their wives and families remain in Dnipro and are sharing the Love of Christ with people in need. Our team with the support of local churches is responding by:
1. Remaining in the city, to serve their fellow Ukranians.
2. Providing food, water, and shelter to an average of 300 refugees every day/night in their church.
3. The residents from the rehab center (60 men) are helping to fortify Dnipro (preparing for attack) while working to give aid to refugees and others in need.
4. Bringing food into the prisons for inmates and staff.
5. Encouraging those serving in the Ukrainian defense with food and water.

You can come alongside the team and help them provide for their families and for the refugees and the incarcerated men. 100% of your gift today will go directly to the team and the work they are doing as they serve their city, province and country in the name of the Lord.
Thank you for your prayers and support. We hope you will continue to hold the team up in prayer as they serve the those with both physical and spiritual needs.

Please Pray. Good News Jail and Prison Ministry has Chaplains in Ukraine and Russia. I have a contact with Navigator missionaries in both countries too. They are seeking prayer for what to do. Whatever the decision, it will impact their safety and their ministry. Below is the email I received from my Nav Mission friend. Please join me in praying for ministers in the midst of this situation.

Please pray for wisdom for these leaders. While it’s natural that we are concerned for their safety, no one makes a decision to move their family to another country without considering the costs. And for most who have chosen to serve internationally, safety is not their driving motivation. Concern for the people they are ministering to and their calling from the Lord is much more what drives them. There are consequences if they stay in Russia. AND there are consequences to their ministry if they decide to leave. We see in scripture that at times Paul fled (Acts 19:28-35) and at times he stayed in a precarious situation (Acts 16:16-40). The goal is not what is the safest thing but what is the Spirit led decision!

...for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Sunday, January 9, 2021, is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, a day dedicated to showing our support for law enforcement on the local, state, and federal levels. Created in 2015, this day allows us to voice our appreciation to law enforcement officers for their service.
Men and women of law enforcement run towards the danger when others flee. Whether it’s public safety, domestic violence, substance abuse, or any number of other dangers they courageously charge in to protect their communities.
So, take a moment and say a prayer for the men and women who maintain or restore order, protect our communities, and ensure our safety even if it involves personal risks.
Thanks to the men and women of law enforcement for the dedication, sacrifice, and commitment they display every day.

Jail Ministry has a lot of unique challenges but the goal is to plant seeds and trust God to bring the increase. Sometimes I can see it but other times I simply have to trust God is at work.

1 Corinthians 3:6-9
I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.

From that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, "He told me all the things that I have done." So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. Many more believed because of His word; and they were saying to the woman, "It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is indeed the Savior of the world."

My favorite song as a child and this is a very tuned up version.
This song captures the humble act of giving what you have to the King and finding when you do it was enough.
See, the truth is what you or I have could never be sufficient to honor the Sovereign God but He came to reconcile the Holy God to sinful man. He alone is sufficient.
This Christmas, come humble, give what you have, believe in Jesus, and receive His smile.

We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
2 Corinthians 10:5

Start including God on those inner dialogues and seek the truth of scripture to gain His perspective on the situations you face. He is the source of wisdom, knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 9.10).

Worship isn't just a song—it's obedience.

In 1 Samuel 15:22, Samuel says, "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams..."

As we countdown to Christmas, let's choose not to just worship our Savior with beautiful hymns and carols, but also with our actions.

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Denison Forum:
“Federal researchers reported yesterday that more than one hundred thousand Americans died of drug overdoses in the twelve-month period ending in April, up almost 30 percent from the prior year. Overdose deaths have doubled since 2015 and now surpass the toll of car crashes and guns combined.
We live in the most advanced technological age in history. We have more wealth and means than previous generations could have imagined. What, then, explains the anxiety epidemic of our age?”

How is it we live “better” than previous generations but Overdose more than ever? Our prosperity is not satisfying our true need. Our “Idols” do a terrible job of replacing God!
When we humble ourselves under His sovereignty we displace the idols and enter the joy God desires to have in a relationship with us.

Deuteronomy 6:4-7 "Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one! "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. "These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.
