🌍 BREAKING: The world just voted to finally show at its REAL size… and only ONE country said no.
On September 4, 2026, the UN General Assembly passed the “Correct the Map” resolution by a massive 164 to 1.
âś… 164 countries voted YES
❌ Only the United States voted NO
⚪ 6 countries abstained
For centuries the old Mercator map has made Africa look tiny — almost the same size as Greenland. In reality, is 14 times larger than Greenland and big enough to fit the entire United States, China, India, and Western Europe inside it… with land left over.
The new resolution encourages the use of equal-area maps (like the Equal Earth projection) so people finally see Africa’s true size in schools, media, and official documents.
Togo led the charge on behalf of the African Union with a simple message:
"A fair world begins with a fair map.”
The U.S. was the only nation to vote against it, calling the resolution an “ideological distraction.”
History just got a little more accurate. What do you think — was this long overdue? 👇
