God of mercy, on this day, we remember the attacks on our country when terror and fear struck our land. We pray for continuing comfort and healing of the emotional and physical wounds of those who remain. We remember the courage of the first responders who were willing to risk or give their own lives to save others. We pray that such tragedies never happen again. Help us spread Your gospel message of love and peace as we pray for a time when people and nations will no longer take up weapons of war. Make us instruments of Your peace. Amen.

God of wisdom, you initiated work in the Garden of Eden for the good of people. We thank you that we can be employed for you in doing good works. We thank you for the workers who do the jobs that are difficult and dangerous, for those who work to serve us, for those who work to bring joy, for those who lead and teach. Thank you that every job matters, no matter how large or small the task. May workers feel appreciated today and find rest from their labors. Amen.
