Just wanted to let everyone know that our fall festival at St. Francis in W. Nyack tomorrow is postponed due to weather. I hope to see everyone there on Sunday , 10/22/23. The good news is that I have more time to make more beautiful items!

I squirm a little when people confuse Christians with the bigoted right-wing nuts waving (and often desecrating) Old Glory. Apparently they were never told how to respect the flag.

We had a visit from the Canon to the Ordinary of the Diocese of the Gulf Coast this Sunday past and we were treated to a delightful homily delivered by the big man in his great “big man” voice! He told a funny joke about how a certain country sheriff redifined “slowing down” and “STOP” for a city slicker lawyer.

The next story he told he connected Micah 6:8 to the lack of obedience of Adam and Eve plus an explanation of Justice to mean the bringing of God’s Heavenly Kingdom and Mercy to mean exercising compassion, both at the same time! (A difficult thing for this judgemental parishioner)

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly[a] with your God. NIV from Bible Gateway

Bringing wholeness, making things right, is at the heart of God's justice. Rev.Canon Ashley Freeman enlightened us about this call to “do” Justice and to demonstrate rightness and compassion.

This might be a bit overstated. I prefer panentheism over pantheism, but the point remains. We would do well to have a course correction emphasizing the immanence of God more than the transcendence - which has been over emphasized in recent decades. ~ Roger Wolsey
