Saturday, April 11th, Grace LYO students made a visitation to People’s Church, in Bemidji, Mn. They gave them our Souoer Bowl Sunday donation of $600, 10 quilts from Grace WELCA, food items for their food pantry, and some T-shirts for the residents. People’s Church has been in existence for over 25 years. They exist to help serve not only the spiritual needs but basic living needs of many who would go without. They provide food & shelter to anywhere from 24-40 people per day. Their main concern is to provide comfort and help to people with drug addictions, mental health issues, and people who have been in abusive situations. They provide meals and have a Sunday late afternoon church service similar to a Lutheran service since they are linked to the ELCA. They welcome and respect other customs as well like the drums and chanting of the Anishinaabe (Indigenous) people of the area.

Grace Lutheran Church Women are donating this beautiful homemade quilt to the Thief River Care Center for an upcoming raffle they will be having. Lori Thompson of the Care Center is receiving the donation. Our community has had many residents cared for at the Care Center and we are grateful for the closeness to our community and glad to help with this donation.

Grace LYO is organizing this year's High School Release Day for Wednesday & Thursday, April 8th & 9th. The Grygla and Goodridge students will listen to an inspirational speaker in the Goodridge gymnamsium. This year's keynote speaker is Deborah Hadley, from Alexandria, Mn. Deb will be speaking to the students about "turning hard things into strength." Following this the Grygla students will travel onto Falls Cinema, in Thief River Falls, to watch the movie, "Soul on Fire." The movie is a true story about John O'Leary, a man who survived severe burns from a fire at age nine and is given little chance of survival. It chronicles his miraculous recovery. The movie is a faith-based story about overcoming tragedy in our lives. The Goodridge students will travel to Falls Cinema on Thursday, April 9th to watch the movie.

The LYO Valentine Supper will take place on Sunday, February 15th at 6 pm at Grace Lutheran Church. Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased by LYO students or by texting Gretchen Smeby, Tausha Severts, or Ruth Anderson. Tickets are available until February 9th.
