Well, let me tell you a story. A true story. My own story... I'm headed to Kenya tonight for my second missionary journey, as I like to call it...đ. Here is the REST of the story.
In 2022, we launched a pulpit ministry called Send The Light. Originally it was only intended to bring some encouragement and possibly help with some revitalization. But as it began, God began to redirect its primary emphasis into foreign mission fields.
We soon received a 'Macedonian Call' to help strengthen a group of churches in Kenya. It was hard at first to explain to people stateside what exactly it was that we were doing. Not mass evangelism. Not specifically church planting. Not a traditional format of what we considered missions. But I knew deep down that this was something God wanted us to be involved in.
We hosted our first leadership and theological training conference in January of 2024 @ the Christ Be Magnified conference. It was a success. God's hand was evident in every step. Our mission? Encourage, strengthen, and empower local churches to become the soul winning, disciple-oriented, and community transforming churches that our Father had always intended. We saw fruit rotting on the vine, just waiting for someone to 'come and help them' potientiate the core assets of the gospel.
So that has been our endeavor. Through partnerships with local churches at home and abroad, working together with them, we have been able to forge an alliance of like minded disciples whose central goal is to advance the Kingdom both locally and worldwide. As they often say in Africa, We thank God.
Today, the mission has expanded. We were able to partner with a local pastor to plant the first church out of this alliance in December of 2024 on a plot of land acquired in 2023. Hope Baptist Church. Then in January of 2025, Beacon of Hope Academy was born. Usao Village was an area where there was not much hope. But now Hope is budding. Through the academy, there are now well over 100 children enrolled. Lives that otherwise would live in obscurity now live with the Light of Life. So so many little children there with no real purpose. God is arresting a generation to see His plan accomplished. We thank God.
Then in Spring of 2025, God placed it on my heart with the inspiration to launch a virtual training center for pastors, teachers, and Christian workers. With very much a traditional classroom setting in country, with a class moderator, students, and translation when needed, we are setting up teachers to teach specific classes/discipleship groups coming in via zoom. There will also be opportunities in future for the teachers to meet students as part of a missions trip. So we are actively recruiting those who have a heart for this vision who can teach and mentor people in a biblical context.
This virtual program is new, still forming, and continues to take on new elements. We are planning to launch 2-3 virtual classrooms while we are there in the next couple weeks. Classes hopefully starting in Spring/Summer of 2026. Here is why that is important. There is such a lack of depth of training in this part of the world. But there is also a great hunger. We want to equip the local believers to become transformational in their churches, communities, and personal lives, and see the gospel progress to the finish line. So we have developed the Emmaus Road program using the virtual platform.
Currently we have mission work in 4 different countries hopefully expanding to 5 later this year. We would love to place virtual schools in all of our mission work locations. For now, we only have the funding to place 2 or 3.
First of all, we need those that can, to stand with us in Prayer. This is a spiritual war, and no real momentum is possible without concerted prayer efforts. Secondly, The cost of setting up a new classroom is approximately $1,000+/- for setup depending on the needs of the particular classroom, and ongoing costs of about $50/month.
If you are willing to become a prayer sponsor, or if you are able to sponsor a new classroom financially, or even sponsor an existing classroom, we would be so happy. We are also still looking for teachers so if that is an interest of yours, keep this in prayer. Please contact us with any interest or questions @ [email protected].
We are so very thankful to South Grand River and North East district associations as well as many different individuals who have contributed with their time, talent, and resources to see this work become a reality. It is just the beginning folks. The best is yet to come.
