Send The Light Global Initiative Pulpit Ministry

01/27/2026

Well, let me tell you a story. A true story. My own story... I'm headed to Kenya tonight for my second missionary journey, as I like to call it...😇. Here is the REST of the story.

In 2022, we launched a pulpit ministry called Send The Light. Originally it was only intended to bring some encouragement and possibly help with some revitalization. But as it began, God began to redirect its primary emphasis into foreign mission fields.

We soon received a 'Macedonian Call' to help strengthen a group of churches in Kenya. It was hard at first to explain to people stateside what exactly it was that we were doing. Not mass evangelism. Not specifically church planting. Not a traditional format of what we considered missions. But I knew deep down that this was something God wanted us to be involved in.

We hosted our first leadership and theological training conference in January of 2024 @ the Christ Be Magnified conference. It was a success. God's hand was evident in every step. Our mission? Encourage, strengthen, and empower local churches to become the soul winning, disciple-oriented, and community transforming churches that our Father had always intended. We saw fruit rotting on the vine, just waiting for someone to 'come and help them' potientiate the core assets of the gospel.

So that has been our endeavor. Through partnerships with local churches at home and abroad, working together with them, we have been able to forge an alliance of like minded disciples whose central goal is to advance the Kingdom both locally and worldwide. As they often say in Africa, We thank God.

Today, the mission has expanded. We were able to partner with a local pastor to plant the first church out of this alliance in December of 2024 on a plot of land acquired in 2023. Hope Baptist Church. Then in January of 2025, Beacon of Hope Academy was born. Usao Village was an area where there was not much hope. But now Hope is budding. Through the academy, there are now well over 100 children enrolled. Lives that otherwise would live in obscurity now live with the Light of Life. So so many little children there with no real purpose. God is arresting a generation to see His plan accomplished. We thank God.

Then in Spring of 2025, God placed it on my heart with the inspiration to launch a virtual training center for pastors, teachers, and Christian workers. With very much a traditional classroom setting in country, with a class moderator, students, and translation when needed, we are setting up teachers to teach specific classes/discipleship groups coming in via zoom. There will also be opportunities in future for the teachers to meet students as part of a missions trip. So we are actively recruiting those who have a heart for this vision who can teach and mentor people in a biblical context.

This virtual program is new, still forming, and continues to take on new elements. We are planning to launch 2-3 virtual classrooms while we are there in the next couple weeks. Classes hopefully starting in Spring/Summer of 2026. Here is why that is important. There is such a lack of depth of training in this part of the world. But there is also a great hunger. We want to equip the local believers to become transformational in their churches, communities, and personal lives, and see the gospel progress to the finish line. So we have developed the Emmaus Road program using the virtual platform.

Currently we have mission work in 4 different countries hopefully expanding to 5 later this year. We would love to place virtual schools in all of our mission work locations. For now, we only have the funding to place 2 or 3.

First of all, we need those that can, to stand with us in Prayer. This is a spiritual war, and no real momentum is possible without concerted prayer efforts. Secondly, The cost of setting up a new classroom is approximately $1,000+/- for setup depending on the needs of the particular classroom, and ongoing costs of about $50/month.

If you are willing to become a prayer sponsor, or if you are able to sponsor a new classroom financially, or even sponsor an existing classroom, we would be so happy. We are also still looking for teachers so if that is an interest of yours, keep this in prayer. Please contact us with any interest or questions @ [email protected].

We are so very thankful to South Grand River and North East district associations as well as many different individuals who have contributed with their time, talent, and resources to see this work become a reality. It is just the beginning folks. The best is yet to come.

My next 20 years...

In the next 20 years, if time continues, and God favors us with life, there will be a fundamental change to all of life as we know it.

Why do I say that? Consider with me. In 20 years, it will be the year 2045. Some of us will be catapulted from a child to an adult. Some of us will find we have been catapulted from a young Adult to middle age. Others of us will find ourselves going from Middle age to older adults. And yet others may find themselves becoming Senior adults, or even nearing the end of our journey here.

A lot can happen in 20 years. I think about what happened over my last 20 years. It all went by so fast. From robust youth full of energy, to graying and stately, our days change like the seasons. It seems like only a page that was turned. Life is so short, its hard to hold it in our hands. Our years are only as mist. The wind blows and it is certainly gone.

My kids will all be young adults. What I decide to do with my life over the next 20 years will become my past. What occupation I pursue, what occupied my time, what I invested into important things, things that last, what I did with God's calling in my life, etc. will all be determined.

How we respond to this thought will determine what lies beyond. In a certain sense, we all determine our destiny. What we choose to do from here will largely determine how the next 20 years play out. Drastic shifts will take place in our families. Our life goals, dreams, aspirations will either be accomplished or go unfinished. People, relationships, family ties will change.

Why does it matter? Or why is it important? As Steve Gallagher from Pure Life Ministries has said, we must consider the 'Aharit' or the end of the matter. What happened, the decisions we made, the things we did the last 20 years changed, helped shape, mold yesterday's future which is today's past. How many of us have made statements like, 'I'd give anything to change' this or that in the past. But only today do we have that option to change the future. Let's make it count.

Update

Beacon of Hope Academy. This is the school pastor Cavin Launched this January there in Usao Village. It only has the kindergarten class this year. Next year as the school grows they will add one grade per year to the program. So next year will be kindergarten and first, etc etc. It's really quite amazing what God did there from that overgrown piece of rough acreage to this. I believe they have close to 60 children now at the school.

This is an exciting day for us with our Send The Light Global Initiative! God intercepted a vision that started in November of 2022, and has opened many doors all along the way!

As we have worked with Pastor Cavin in outreach projects, God opened the door for us and Cavin to purchase a 3 acre plot of land in 2023 for a very minimal cost, on the edge of Usau Village Kenya.

God also enabled us through generous sponsors to be able host a Bible training conference in January of 2024 to work with local pastors and church workers. We had close to 140 in attendance during our week long conference.

We now come to the point today that God has provided us a way to build on the land He provided, through more generous donations, that this weekend we are planting our first church in Kenya in partnership with a group of local churches to bring hope to a village that was without hope.

We pray that Hope Baptist Church will be a beacon of hope in their community and bring transformation to their community for generations to come. THANK YOU TO ALL THE GENEROUS SPONSORS AND PRAYER PARTNERS THAT HELPED THIS BECOME A REALITY!

A special Thanks to our District Association of Churches at South Grand River, and Our Sister District at North East Association of Oklahoma. God bless you all! Also a shout out to our church Hillcrest Church - Wagoner and those who have prayed and given. Thank You

UPDATE:
The industrial tent (30x50) has been constructed on the land. It is metal welded framing, it was constructed on-site by the tent builder, and the exterior material is supposed to last 7 years.

We were able to get 100 of the plastic chairs. So we will see what God does there in this community of 20,000-30,000 people in the surrounding area.

Cavin (the church planter) was able to make contact with a nonprofit that works in Kenya, and they came and built a school on the land, adjacent to the tent. So he plans to open a Christian school there (Cavin used to be in charge of a Christian School on Mfangano Island). So it is exciting to see everything that God is doing there.

The village is really poor, sad, and hopeless. We visited there and the land when we were at the conference in Mfangano. So we have decided to name the church Hope Baptist Church, and the school is to be named Beacon of Hope Christian Academy.

I believe he has 4 or 5 families ready to begin attending, and he believes the school will start with about 75 students when they open in January.

Please be praying for the crusade this weekend leading up to the church launch.

The Newness of life

If God's goal had been to make you have all the right actions, He could have accomplished that through stricter laws. But mankind's fundamental problem wasn't that he didn't act right. His root problem is that he wasn't right. No level of bureaucracy or theocratic rule would have added an ounce of divine goodness into man. There was no hope of conforming him into God's likeness.

In Christianity, we are not performing in order to conform. We are transforming to become. Let me explain what I mean. External force is able to change our actions. But what it cannot change is our inner being. A pig can stay clean along a dirt path only if he is chained and forced to stay out of the mud. The pigs character drives his actions. And actions can be reformed without changing the internal personality.

But a cat, on the other hand, is free from restraints, and freely allowed to walk the same path as the pig, without fear of getting dirty. And if the cat accidentally gets in the mud, it will clean itself before going another step. The fundamental difference is nature.

If we are to walk pleasing to God in our actions and character, it is not the actions that must first change, it is the internal personality. You say, that's impossible. I was born with this personality, these predispositions, these desires, both good and bad. And that's true. A leapord cannot change its spots. It's impossible. This is why the Bible says, you must be 'born again'.

Born again is a greatly misused term that many people use to refer to someone following a certain religion or saying a prayer for God to forgive them at some point in their life. What 'born again' actually is in substance is, a new nature within that causes our outer actions to conform to our new inner reality which then changes our personality.

You say, how can I explain this phenomenon? Well, how does a butterfly explain how it once crawled as a worm, but now it flies? It is not simply conformed to new actions. It is transformed, being created into a different likeness. How is that possible? It is not a better explanation we need. It is experiencing it that will make the difference.

In the Bible, God gives us the formula. "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand;[a] repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15) and Ephesians 4:11-18 says, "Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.

In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope. But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. He did this by ending the system of law with its commandments and regulations. He made peace between Jews and Gentiles by creating in himself one new people from the two groups. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death.

He brought this Good News of peace to you Gentiles who were far away from him, and peace to the Jews who were near. Now all of us can come to the Father through the same Holy Spirit because of what Christ has done for us."

If we are willing to stop doing life our way and turn it over to God (in other words, repent) and put your trust in what God did for you when Jesus died on the cross for your sins (in order to pay the debt of wrong that we all owed) you then become a candidate for this new life experience, where God comes into your heart and dwells with you, and you can become a new person. "And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commands all men every where to repent: because he has appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he has ordained; whereof he has given assurance unto all men, in that he has raised him from the dead." Acts 17:30-31

If you can see how desperately you need a new life found in God, don't delay. If you have felt the conviction of God's voice saying 'Get it right' Don't wait. Today is the day of salvation. Tomorrow may be too late. How sad to face the judgement bar alone, with no one to advocate for you. Make the call today, friend. "For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" Romans 10:13

WE NEED CHAIRS.
Here is a funding request. We are planting a new church (through our Send The Light Global Initiative) in a small village in Eastern Kenya that does not have a gospel teaching church. We are in process of building the facility (we are using a 30x50 industrial style tent). We are still needing a few things for the interior. One of those items is chairs.

We would like to provide 100-150 chairs for the interior of our 30x50 area. These cost around $6 each. Would you consider a donation to help us purchase these chairs? 1 chair= $6 or 10 chairs= $60. Each chair represents someone who can be reached with the gospel.

You can go donate and/or read the complete story at the link below.
