Grace United Methodist Church

Grace United Methodist Church originated in two Camp Meetings, one held at Albin’s Corners in 1830, the other on the George Taylor farm in 1834. Soon after these meetings a “Class” was formed in each neighborhood. In 1843 a piece of land was deeded and all the “Classes” came together to build the first church which was dedicated in 1844. g the Cranberry Road where the present Methodist Cemetery is located. The second church was built in 1884 on the corner of Grace and Pine Streets in the center of town. It became known as Grace Methodist Episcopal Church of Grove City, Pennsylvania. The third and present Church located on the corner of South Broad, East Pine, and Grace Streets was dedicated in 1909 with an education building added in 1926. In 1940, the Methodist Conference removed “Episcopal” and the church’s name as it is today became Grace United Methodist Church. The name “Grace” actually is the name of the family who lived on the street and donated the land for the church. The Church was named after the Grace family and eventually the Borough named the street Grace Street. “Grace” is now the church’s “family name” and reminds us of the gift Christ offers to all.
