In this clip, Rev. Wendy reflects on how we often come to worship already trained to evaluate what we hear.

When people say they “liked” or “didn’t like” a sermon, often what they really mean is whether they agreed with it.

But Rev. Wendy reminds us that there is a problem with that.

We live in a world where algorithms often make sure we only hear what we already think and believe. And sometimes, without realizing it, we bring that same expectation into church.

We clap for the music we like.
We compliment the preaching we like.
We sit in a space that can feel like a theater.

But worship is not a performance offered for our evaluation.

So what is worship really for? And what happens when Scripture is read and preached among the people of God?

Watch the clip, and find the full sermon in the comments.

Why do we gather for worship?

In this clip from Rev. Wendy’s sermon, “What Are We Doing Here? One in the Spirit,” we are reminded that worship is not just something we do as individuals. From the earliest days of the church, worship has been about being together, sharing faith, prayer, bread, and life in Christ.

We come together to remember that we are not alone, not divided, but one in the Spirit.

This is the first sermon in Rev. Wendy’s three-part series, “What Are We Doing Here?”

🫂 We weren't called to do it all alone.

In this week's sermon, Rev. Wendy McCormick reflects on Paul's image of the Body of Christ from 1 Corinthians 12. Just as a body needs many different parts working together, the church needs people with different gifts, passions, and callings.

Every role matters. Every gift has value. Every person belongs.

Watch this short clip and consider where God may be calling you to serve and connect within the body of Christ.
