The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts-TABCOM

The American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts-TABCOM Uniting and equipping churches to make disciples of Jesus. Discipleship
We are all called to be ministers of Jesus Christ. (I Peter 2:9)

Primary Core Values

Spirituality

† We will be a transformed (regenerate) people as we grow in Christ’s likeness. (Philippians 3:12-13)

† We will be known as a community that makes God’s Word central in all we say and do.

† We will constantly seek through prayer, worship and study to understand what Christ wants for our lives. As such we will be His lifelong students and measure ourselves by o

ur ability to live Christ-like lives. We seek to fulfill the Great Commission to make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 10)

Diversity
We will be a healing and empowering community that celebrates the diversity of humankind and our unity in Jesus Christ by:

† The ways we value and esteem all God’s people and their gifts and abilities

† Overcoming bias and fear

† Our effectiveness in developing local and global awareness of diversity in the body of Christ (Acts 10:34B-35)

Distinctiveness
We will constantly celebrate God and our rich heritage as American Baptists. We believe our principles of soul freedom, autonomy of the local church, separation of church and state, freedom of and responsibility for interpreting scripture, our regenerate theology and our associational principles not only set us apart but particularly strengthen and equip us for minis
try in these times.

(from Jennifer Sanborn) It was a privilege to worship today with North Baptist in New Bedford. The congregation gave a gift of $15,000 this spring to the TransFORMation Fund, our endowment through the American Baptist Foundation, for the benefit of the ministry of Grotonwood Camp & Conference Center. We turned my Grotonwood t-shirt into an altar cloth, and I feel privileged to carry even more Grotonwood stories with me after conversations following worship. Many thanks to Rev. Don Mier for his generous hospitality and the invitation to come and preach. What a spectacular view we enjoyed at lunch!

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Rev. Dr. Remona Letasha Farley, who entered eternal rest on June 5, 2026, at the age of 49. Rev. Dr. Farley was a beloved pastor, leader, mother, friend, and servant of God whose life touched countless people through her faith, compassion, strength, and unwavering commitment to ministry.

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Please keep her children, family, friends, congregation, and all who loved her in your prayers during this difficult time.

Today we remember and give thanks for First Baptist Church Littleton, serving God, each other, and their community from 1822-2026. Gathered today for a final worship service as a congregation were members, families, neighbors, leaders from their past and present, and American Baptists from down the road and around the world. The congregation discerned that their legacy will be planted in all its members following the light of Christ out into the world and in four particular ministries which will receive the congregation's assets for mission and ministry: Littleton Elder and Human Services, MA Baptist Multicultural Ministries, International Ministries, and Grotonwood Camp & Conference Center.

The presence of the Lord as shepherd was a powerful theme in the music and the message from Rev. Dr. Frank Armstrong, and it is a treasured gift that Grotonwood will also receive a beloved stained glass window that has provided comfort and guidance to many. Indeed, God is in this place and with these people, today and going forth!

(from Jennifer Sanborn) I highly recommend the resources of Judson Press, now in a new format! Download this 4-part Bible Study to explore God's invitation to relationship through giving. Consider this for small groups in your congregation, in a family setting, on your own, or even with an association or as a region. Interested in an online TABCOM Bible Study engaging with these materials together? Let me know--I'd be glad to host!

Most conversations about tithing begin with obligation. They open with a budget shortfall, close with a pledge card, and leave congregants wondering whether the church sees them primarily as donors. Hearts of Generosity: A Biblical Study of Tithing and Offering takes a different approach entirely.
