How are children regarded in your congregation? As "visitors" to worship who are quickly dismissed? Present holders of the Kingdom of God in our midst, reminding and teaching us how we, too, can approach Jesus like children? Future leaders of the church or the wisdom conveyors of today?

All of this and more was the subject of a webinar this week hosted by the American Baptist Home Mission Societies and featuring TABCOM friend, pastor, and former president Rev. Daryn Stylianopoulos. Rev. Daryn and her colleagues Autumn Blalock and Dr. Denise Janssen shared insights from the Nurturing Children Initiative, a cohort-based experiential project presently serving both "best practice" congregations and soon to be supporting "striving" congregations in their reflection and work to center the experiences of children and youth.

We are fortunate that Rev. Daryn will be leading one of the workshops at MissionWorks on October 3, 2026 at First Baptist Church of Westwood. Mark your calendars and plan to be with us! Come with the heart of a child!

In the wake of yesterday’s historic flooding in Nepal, International Ministries (IM) is responding with $10,000 in One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) emergency disaster relief funds to support our partners as they provide food, shelter, and emergency supplies to those most affected.

As relief efforts begin, IM's Area Director for East and South Asia remains in close communication with our partners in Nepal to assess needs and coordinate support.
