John 4:23-24 “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”

To worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth means offering genuine, heartfelt praise from within, guided by God’s Word and Jesus Himself—beyond rituals, current circumstances or outward display—expressing a whole-life love for God with heart, soul, mind, and strength, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

I remember serving as the worship leader for an inner-city Assemblies of God church when we had the honor of hosting Elisabeth Elliot. During the service, we led a church favorite, In the Stillness of This Hour. We loved that song and would really "wear it out," with the congregation fully caught up in the moment.

When Elisabeth Elliot—a phenomenal teacher of Scripture, a missionary with an incredible testimony, and a woman of profound wisdom—came to the pulpit to preach, she graciously remarked that while the song was one of her favorites, it was “anything but still.”

That moment was my first open correction on how to minister a worship song. I had been corrected by the Elisabeth Elliot. While I loved that song and my pastor appreciated how we ministered it, I deeply valued her insight. From that day forward, I committed to carefully reading and studying the lyrics of every song, ensuring I ministered them with the heart and intent they were meant to carry.

However, we continued to sing the song with great passion and wore that chorus out, it was 🔥🔥

WARNING: LONG POST AHEAD!

What an interesting season I’m in! 🔥🔥🕊🔥🔥🕊

Recently, while working with a client, a colleague observed me in action and complimented me, saying, "You’re an excellent gatekeeper." At first, I simply thanked her and thought it was a sweet remark. But then, the Holy Spirit kept bringing that term—gatekeeper—to my attention, urging me to look deeper.

As I researched, I realized how much it resonates with my calling as a worship leader. It makes so much sense that I would naturally function as a gatekeeper in God’s house. If you know me, you know how fiercely I protect the sanctuary and honor God’s presence.

In Scripture, gatekeepers had a critical role in the temple. They were assigned to guard the entrances, ensuring that only those who were clean and authorized could enter. Their work maintained the sanctity of the holy space and upheld order within the temple. Often, gatekeepers were Levites—chosen specifically for this task—and their role was considered sacred and significant.

Here are some key takeaways about biblical gatekeepers:

Their Function: They controlled who could enter the temple, protecting it from defilement by those who were unclean or unauthorized.
Levitical Lineage: Gatekeepers were typically from the tribe of Levi, a lineage designated for temple service.

Symbolic Meaning: Beyond their literal duties, gatekeepers symbolize those who guard and protect something sacred, whether it’s a spiritual truth, a community, or the presence of God.

This deeper understanding has illuminated something powerful in my spirit: being a gatekeeper isn’t just a role—it’s a calling to safeguard what is holy and precious in God’s kingdom.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for the reminder. 🙏

One of my life scriptures is Ii Peter 1:2!

2. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue

This is always in my daily prayers for myself, and those I love!!!
