St. James Episcopal Church, Grosse Ile, Michigan

St. James Episcopal Church, Grosse Ile, Michigan Our worship services are held on Sunday mornings at 8 am and 10 am (www.saintjamesgi.net). The early service is held in our historic chapel.

The later service is held in the main sanctuary with a choir and programming for children and youth. WE ARE A JOYFUL Christian community on Grosse Ile where worship, faith and family go hand in hand. In our WORSHIP we follow a two-part form, bringing together scripture and sacrament in every worship service. Our sermons are lively, focused, and timely, composed in light of the times and needs of o

ur members. Our music is traditional and compelling, comprising beautiful words and melodies that are enjoyable to sing. In our profession of FAITH we are solidly Christian. We believe Jesus was fully human and fully divine. We seek to explore and understand what that mystery means for us. We regard the whole Bible as meaningful, so our Bible Studies and sermons look to both the Old and New Testaments of scripture. Above all we seek to know God as he has revealed himself to us in Jesus Christ, seeking to love God with all our heart, soul and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. At Saint James’ our LIFE TOGETHER begins in Christ and is expressed in worship, but we enjoy fellowship opportunities of every kind. For three years running we have chartered a bus to attend a summer Tiger’s game. We have had square-dancing and movie parties, musical celebrations on the front lawn, mission trips, vacation bible school’s and more. Find out more at: http://www.saintjamesgi.net

Please help if you feel so called.

Supplying our classrooms with snacks and needed art supplies, along with fun things to do is always a focus, but this year I have a few other requests on the wish list as well.

1) I would love to create a resource lending library for teens and adults where there are books to help with tough times, to guide faith and to grow it.
2) As the mom of a neurodivergent kid (who myself is a little neurospicy) I know the struggle of being in spaces that can be overwhelming, over stimulating, or just hard to sit still in. I am hoping to have plently of sensory tools on hand in church/ Sunday School to make them welcoming, comfortable places for all of our friends. So, I have listed several things to help with this on our wish list.

It is almost time for our 2026-27 Program Year to begin!

There are some things we need for Sunday School/Youth Group (snacks, some art supplies) and some things we would like to have so we can provide more resources, or have more fun.

If you feel called to help the Amazon registry link is here https://tinyurl.com/SJGI-wish-list

or you can scan the QR code.

Any help is appreciated, and if you can't help your prayers for our children and youth are equally appreciated.

So what goes on in Galloway Hall after a Sunday church service?
More than drinking coffee….So walk on down the hall or across the fireplace carpet and feel at home.

Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.

If you love worshiping on the river, come on over now! Only 2 more outside Summer Sunday 10am services left for 2026….August 30th and September 6th!
Feel the warm wind. Sit in the sun or the shade. Bring your chair or sit in one of ours. Add that “wild” nature feeling to your personal worship journey….Don’t miss out.
(Or come at 8am for the cool intimacy of the historic chapel.)

No graphics….just kids having a place where they belong. St. James offers “Sunday School” following communion at the Sunday 10am services starting mid-September every fall and continuing until June. Families worship together and toward the end of the service, teachers and children leave for the classrooms. Caring and trained adults lead the classes on a rotating schedule. Kids are grouped by age. All kids are welcome…..register or just drop in to “test the waters.”
Is there more? Of course! Our Family and Youth Minister, Holly McNeal, is always planning activities…..Check out all the FB posts right here on the St. James page!

We all fondly remember Julia Allen….from working Greens Market or Rummage with her, sitting next to her teenage self at potluck, or talking to her as she bagged our Kroger groceries. After her mother suddenly died when she was a teenager, Nancy Crysler stepped up as her guardian and Julia became part of the Crysler’s lives and ours. Julia’s Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 10:30 am at The Church of the Way on Meridian and Macomb.
