Wheelbarrows of Loss and Landscapes of Hope
Karen Nicola

Many people find themselves carrying grief from multiple sources at the same time. The death of a loved one, a broken relationship, health challenges, financial setbacks, disappointments, and unfulfilled dreams can accumulate until the weight feels overwhelming. When losses pile up faster than we can process them, the effects often show up physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Fatigue, anxiety, numbness, confusion, and even questions about God’s presence can become part of the journey. In this presentation, Karen Nicola will help attendees understand that grief is not a lack of faith. God understands the pain of this world and meets us with compassion in our suffering.

We'll take a look at why multiple losses can create emotional and physical overwhelm, how grief affects our relationship with God, common myths Christians believe about grief, practical ways to process loss in healthy ways, and how God transforms our pain into a landscape of hope

Karen Nicola is a grief educator, coach, and founder of Comfort for the Day. She equips individuals with practical tools for navigating grief while learning to trust God’s healing presence. Her approach combines compassionate understanding, biblical hope, and real-world guidance for those seeking a path forward after loss.

Guest Speaker 2026 - Krystalynn Martin

Krystalynn Westbrook-Martin has served as a pastor, educator, writer, leader, speaker, mentor, and community advocate with more than 25 years of experience. Passionate about helping people encounter faith in tangible, life-giving ways, Krystalynn is known for her authentic storytelling, compassionate leadership, and ability to connect deeply with audiences of all ages.

In whatever context she finds herself, Krystalynn brings warmth, honesty, wisdom, and humor to every setting.

She lives in Northern California with her family, chickens, and dog, and continues to serve through teaching, consulting, writing, speaking, and civic leadership.
