August 19, 2026 had 23 workers show up for Hearts & Hands for Haiti, to make diapers and finish up other things that we had started. Wayne and I were not there but heard lots of good reviews on the day. Tammy and Sheryl were amazing outside sewers for the month.
Totals for the month starting with Tammy. 41 women’s Healthcare kits brought that total to 822.
She added six tote bags bringing that total to 679.
10 dresses brought that total to 6838.
And her 8 receiving blankets that total to 440.
Cheryl finished 83 diapers at home giving us a great start for that part of the day our 56 brought our total for the day to 139 and the grand total of 9935.
This project is a labor of love and we couldn’t do it without all of your love and support.

July 15, 2026 was a great day for hearts and hands for Haiti. We had 30 people helping,
sewing and doing whatever we needed to get to our goal of 10,000 diapers.
The missionaries from Haiti, Jean Jean and Kristie Mompremier joined us for an update on what’s going on at United Christians International.
Learning firsthand is always the best! We had a couple of other little celebrations, including Carolyn birthday coming up on 95 years. She just donated 70 jars of peanut butter and we got to sing her happy birthday.
Everybody pitched in and brought lunch and goodies so we got to celebrate 10,000 diapers even though we are 204 diapers short. Which I’m sure will hit next month. We had so many outside workers this month Sheryl finished up 44 diapers, Marla finished up nine, Janet sewed pads and put backs on lots of diapers. our friend Helen brought us 167 diapers 85 pairs of shorts and lots of shirts for the prison. Mary helped out with the women’s hygiene kits by sewing 133 pads. And we had 265 dresses brought in that were sewn by Deb in Atlantic. Ankeny first United Methodist Church added 640 diapers to our total.
There is a Bible verse that pretty much describes today and it is Ephesians 3:20. Look it up when you have a minute and I think you’ll agree!
Totals 8885 diapers +167 from Helen, 640 from Ankeny and our 104 today give us a grand total of 9796.
Adult totes 667+ the five Tammy brought in gave us 672
Kids totes 43+2 from Tammy equals 45
Peanut butter 70 from Carolyn one anonymous plus the 153 we already had brings that total to 224.
Women’s hygiene kits 733+42. Tammy brought in what she and Mary did 775.
3459 pairs of shorts Plus 85 from Helen, eight from Tammy and our 14 today brings that total to 3566
6563 dresses plus Deb‘s 265 brings that total to 6828.
We are so grateful to all these people that sew at home and help us get more prepared each month. Also thank you to everyone that brings the suitcases. We have 60+ loaded, and ready ready to go to Haiti at this time.

Hearts and Hands for Haiti had another wonderful sewing day! 23 of us sorted, traced, cut, made pads, and sewed. It's quite amazing when you hear 11 sewing machines running at the same time. We missed the folks who were not able to join us today! And we're grateful to Tammy for taking the time to drop off stuff and pick up stuff and just generally doing her amazing thing. We're getting our lunch plan in place for next sewing day in July, actually July 15, when JeanJean and Kristie will be joining us. We're all looking forward to hearing updates on United Christians International projects in Haiti and hearing about old friends. We received yarn today for our friend in Nebraska, whom we'll see next month. More T-shirts or clothes, sewing machines, and peanut butter are coming. Our total for peanut butter today: Barb found 36 on sale, Tammy brought some in, Donna Jones, our friend brought us six, and somebody else brought 12, but I didn't catch who it was. So our total is 153. Our diapers have had lots of helpers at home this round. Janet has been sewing pads and gave us a great start. Cheryl finished 59 and Mary finished 20. Our grand total is 8885. Tammy made 20 more women's hygiene kits, bringing that total to 733. She's just about out of everything, so keep that in mind if you're shopping. Tammy also made four more gorgeous adult totes, bringing that total to 661. Tammy also made six dresses, bringing that total to 3563. Tammy also made eight receiving blankets, bringing that total to 434. Shorts 3459 total including our 7 today. No matter what our totals, the fellowship and joy we share working to make life a bit easier for our Haitian friends makes us a family. Come join us anytime!

Hearts and Hands for Haiti had an amazing sewing day! 22 of us kept really busy working mostly on diapers. We are trying to reach our goal of 10,000. We welcomed a new sewer, Diane. Leon couldn’t work, but he enjoyed visiting with everybody. And the snacks were great as usual.
I forgot to mention today that we received a $100 donation from St. John’s women’s fellowship and Helen Lindman gave us a $200 donation. This will all go towards shipping and supplies. We are grateful!
We had lots of outside sewing this month, so hopefully I don’t miss anyone.
Cheryl got us off to a great start with 40 diapers and Mary added 30 and with ours today we had 144 diapers, bringing our total to 8806 diapers. Janet gave us a Headstart by sewing about 100 pads in. We have a ways to go to 10,000. But we’re optimistic.
Mary added over 100 health kit pads to Tammy’s 34 bringing that total to 713.
Tammy made six more beautiful large tote bags to add to our 651, total 657.
Tammy also had six pair of shorts to add to our 3452 bringing it up to 3 458.
Tammy 15 kids tote bags to add to her 48 bringing that total to 63
She also had three receiving blankets bringing that total to 426
Peanut butter total of 85+2 brings it to 87.
I am absolutely overwhelmed at the way people in this group help each other, compliment each other and just generally enjoy each other‘s company as we sew for our Haitian friends.
Again, thanks to everyone who supports us with T-shirts, suitcases, peanut butter, and many other things. We cannot do this without you.!
