Thank you to everyone who stopped by to talk with us at the Big Gay BBQ!

We're especially grateful to Grinnell Pride Collective and PFLAG Grinnell Poweshiek for creating such a welcoming community celebration for Pride Month.

Grinnell UCC is continuing to gather interest for our next OWL opportunity: a Grades 7-9 cohort planned for October 2026-May 2027.

OWL - Our Whole Lives - is a comprehensive, values-based sexuality education program that helps young people build knowledge, confidence, and skills for healthy relationships, respectful decision-making, consent, boundaries, identity, communication, and growing up.

At this stage, this is an interest list - not registration. Registration is expected to open in September 2026.

Families of any or no faith affiliation are welcome to participate.

If you're interested in learning more or want to be included in future updates, please fill out the interest form here: https://www.grinnellucc.org/our-whole-lives-owl/

Questions? Message the church page or contact Lindsey at [email protected].

We're grateful to keep building safe and affirming learning spaces for young people and families in our community.

Grateful to have strong Grinnell representation at this event today.

❤️🤍💙 This 4th of July, let us remember (a truthful) history, acknowledge our current events, and commit to continuing to work toward "Liberty & Justice for ALL."

🙌🏾 "Christian extremism is not theological. Supremacists’ ideology is not biblical. Domination over other human beings is not of God.

The call to Be the Church where God is still Speaking is an acknowledgement that racial justice includes all humans and never excludes anyone based on skin color, culture, ethnic origin, non-binary gender identities, sexual orientation, abilities, or age.

Jesus taught humanity that Justice is for ALL!"

Iowa Faith Leaders Denounce Christian Nationalism

The eve before the nation’s 250th anniversary, Iowa faith leaders and clergy released a public letter calling out the harms of Christian nationalism on our nation, state, and communities urging Iowans and elected officials to denounce Christian nationalism.

The Iowa Faith Leaders Against Christian Nationalism letter was signed by 110 Iowa faith leaders from Christian, Jewish, Unitarian Universalist, and Hindu traditions. The letter includes the endorsement of four Christian bishops and denominational leaders and faith leaders from 11 different Christian denominations and movements.

The Iowa Faith Leaders Against Christian Nationalism letter states in part,

“As faith leaders and clergy from different traditions, we join with one voice to name the fear we hold for our nation’s future with the rise in Christian nationalism and we call out the harm it is doing to our country, state, and communities. On the 250th anniversary of the signing of our nation’s Declaration of Independence, we cling to the promise of religious freedom for all. We are steadfast in our commitment to keep religion and government separate to ensure a healthy democracy and a future for our nation in which all people may flourish.

“We call upon our elected officials to turn away from those who promote Christian nationalism and its agenda. We urge elected officials to uphold the rights of all people, protect the public institutions that serve all, and safeguard our democracy.”

Connie Ryan, Executive Director of Interfaith Alliance of Iowa, stated:

“Iowa’s faith leaders understand the impact Christian nationalism is having on our democracy and the necessity of Iowans and elected officials to reject its agenda. Christian nationalism is not a faith or religion. It is an ideology designed to concentrate power for the benefit of the few at the expense of the many. Iowans must step up to reject Christian nationalism and hold those who promote it accountable.”

The Iowa Faith Leaders Against Christian Nationalism letter will be distributed to Iowa’s Congressional delegation, governor, and members of the Iowa Senate and House.
