šŸŒŽThereā€™s something powerful about learning from people who live in a different part of the world.

This fall, a Prairie Lakes team is heading to Hato Mayor in the Dominican Republic to walk alongside local farmers, encourage community leaders, and learn from the work already happening there. Together, theyā€™ll build relationships, share practical knowledge, and support long-term sustainability in the community.

If youā€™ve got a heart for agriculture, farming, or simply connecting with people in meaningful ways, this trip could be a great next step!

Grief has a way of changing us.

Maybe you've lost someone you love. Maybe it's a relationship, a dream, your health, or a season of life you weren't ready to let go of.

Whatever the loss, grief leaves a mark, but you don't have to carry it by yourself. Jesus understands grief. He wept. He sat with people in their pain. He didn't rush them past it or pretend it wasn't there. Grief is realā€”but it isn't the end of the story.

If you're walking through a difficult season right now, we hope you know this: God is near. There is hope, even when it's hard to see. And you don't have to walk through it alone. ā¤ļø

Prairie Lakes Church partners with The 410 Bridge to walk alongside communities in Hato Mayor, Dominican Republic. The goal of The 410 Bridge is holistic, Christ-centered community development, and our team will join in this mission by coming alongside local leaders and community members. The team may have the opportunity to host activities for kids, connect with and encourage local leaders and learn about the work that will be done in the areas of education, healthcare, economic development, water, and spiritual development.

What if anxiety isnā€™t just about stressā€¦ but about trying to carry things you were never meant to control?

So many of us are exhausted from holding everything together - our future, our family, our finances, our image. But Jesus offers a different way.

Following Jesus doesn't mean pretending you're okay. He actually invites us to entrust our burdens to God and help each other carry them. šŸ¤—

Here is a quick update from our team serving with Adonai International Ministries in Guatemala:

"This week has been full of learning, serving, and seeing God at work in real ways.

Our team spent time at a local school sharing a simple but powerful truth with kids: God loves you all the time, no matter what. Through songs, games, and conversations, we got to remind students that Godā€™s love never changes. In clinic the team has been helping care for patients, supporting the medical team, and building relationships. A few of our Allen students also joined a home visit for a widow, where they were able to pray with her, encourage her, and see firsthand what compassionate ministry can look like outside the walls of the clinic.

We are also hosting VBS for the missionary kids, where we are learning about how God transforms us - just like He transformed Saul into Paul. The kids made butterfly crafts while learning how God changes hearts and lives when we trust Him.

One of the biggest gifts this week has been hearing stories of Godā€™s faithfulness through the missionaries serving here every day. Weā€™re grateful for everything weā€™re learning and experiencing together.

Thanks for praying for our teamā€”we can feel it. Weā€™re excited to keep serving and seeing what God continues to do this week."

"Our team of Allen College Nursing Students is heading out to Canilla, Guatemala on Sunday morning. We will be coming alongside the missionaries and nursing staff of Adonai International Ministries to assist in clinic and local schools. We are excited to spend time with the missionary kids through VBS and are looking forward to a 'spa night' for the women in the ministry. Each year this team of Allen College students have hosted an ice cream social for the missionaries - just as a way to say "thank you" to the ministry and show our appreciation in a small way.

As a team we hope to listen with intention, learn with humility, and approach every encounter with an open mind and a faithful heart. We want to be guided by wisdom, compassion, and above all, love.

As our team prepares for the upcoming mission trip, we request your prayers! Pray for the students, the Adonai missionaries, and the patients we will have the privilege to serve in clinic. Additionally, please pray for a spirit of unity and cohesiveness, so that our team may support one another with grace and purpose."
