As we sit in the Triduum, we reflect in a special way on the Passion of our Lord.
A group of Scotus students had the opportunity to do this in a very real way last week as they attended our final retreat of the year: the Going Deeper Retreat at the Cloisters on the Platte! It was a beautiful day with reflections led by Meagan Gitchell, the founder of Sacred Beauty.

This Lent, we had the opportunity to bring in a series of three speakers who spoke on the topic “Freedom Through the Cross: The God-Shaped Hole in Our Lives”.

Our first speaker was Scotus alum (‘17), Emma Strecker who shared her personal testimony of how she experienced great longing for our Lord and found peace in uniting her suffering with His.

Our second speaker was Mrs. Angie Rusher, who is a ‘95 alum and a current Scotus teacher. She shared tangible ideas of how to actively seek Christ in our every day lives and what has struck her heart within this Lenten season.

The final speaker was ‘21 Scotus alum, Kade Wiese who led the student body through a beautiful imaginative reflection of the Passion.

Each talk was so reflective and different from the others - it was easy to see the Holy Spirit at work!

We can’t believe the end of the year is so close!
As we prepare to send our seniors out into the world, we took them on one last class retreat at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center in Lincoln. The day was spent with talks and reflection time that walked the seniors through the transition of high school to college and encouraged them in ways to keep their faith in college!

Back in February, Scotus joined with Columbus Catholic Youth Ministry to welcome to our community for the evening!
We are blessed to have so many students attend the Steubenville Conference each year and wanted to bring a taste of conference home to Columbus.

Both performances were amazing and we are so grateful to Josh and his drummer Blake for making the trip out to see us and lead us in worship!

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season. Lent reminds us of the sacrificial love that Christ has for each and every person. During this Lenten season, allow the love of the Lord to envelope your heart!
As a school, we celebrated Mass and began our school Lenten commitments. We invite you to join in on our challenges of following dress code and keeping your phone in your locker! Our Almsgiving challenge for the year is helping Fr. Chindo to raise money for the Elion Academy - the school he is building in his home village in Nigeria.

On February 11th our 7th graders took a break from the books for a retreat packed with faith, fellowship, and fun! 🙏 From powerful witness talks given by our high school leaders to quiet moments in Eucharistic Adoration and confession, it was a beautiful day to reconnect with God and each other. So proud of how these Shamrocks are growing in their faith and can’t wait to see what they accomplish in their time at Scotus! ☘️☘️

Dreaming of warmer weather and our amazing Catholic Schools Week celebration!! So many wonderful things happened all thought out the week, but here are a few of our favorite moments:

☘️Sunday Night we had Resore with our parish families
☘️ Monday gave us a snow day ❄️
☘️ Tuesday celebrated teachers/staff/volunteers! They all got hand written thank yous from students and ate a potluck lunch provided by parents!
☘️ Wednesday had Saint and Scotus trivia in the lunchroom.
☘️ Thursday brought 14 visiting priest and religious to our campus for a Vocations Panel, and we had our CSW Mass celebrated by Archbishop McGovern!
☘️ Friday was our annual Faith Rally which consisted of Family Feud, 2 student witnesses, a Eucharistic Procession, a Fervorino by Fr Joseph Wahlmeier, and Adoration with prayer teams and live worship music!!

Already looking forward to next year!

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe who draws us close with tenderness, courage, and hope. May her mantle cover our families, guide our hearts to Jesus, and remind us that we are deeply loved. 💙
