“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
Throughout our Christian Journey, our Patience with God can be one of our toughest struggles. Waiting for God to reveal our purpose or calling can go from the feeling of being on fire for Jesus to impatience, causing us to second guess ourselves. What if I missed my calling? What if God called and I wasn’t listening? What if I made the wrong decision? Even comfort from Proverbs 19:21 that ensures we can make many plans, but the lord’s purpose will prevail, we still at times wonder if we even have a purpose here at all.
Could we as followers of Jesus in the present share these feelings of impatience and doubt with his followers from so long ago? HEBREW 10:36 TELLS US
to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.
So, we’ll let Perseverance tell a story this Easter about God’s purpose for Mary’s life. We may not know much about the mother of Jesus, but by knowing our own insecurities at times, we can only image how Mary might have felt during Jesus last hours. As a mother, losing a child before her very eyes, she replays her role as a parent, forming doubts that she was ever capable of raising this man as God wanted. Maybe it was the very last hour, that changed everything she thought she knew about God’s purpose for her life, as well as her son’s.
