🌿 DAY 10
Daily Bread
📖 Exodus 16:4, 14–15
“Then said the Lord unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day…” — Exodus 16:4
⸻
📜 Historical Background
Exodus 16 takes place shortly after Israel leaves Egypt. They have crossed the Red Sea, witnessed Pharaoh’s defeat, and experienced miraculous deliverance.
Yet only weeks later, they begin to complain.
They are in the Wilderness of Sin, and food is scarce. They say it would have been better to die in Egypt than to hunger in freedom.
Instead of responding with judgment, God responds with provision.
He rains down manna — bread from heaven — every morning.
But there is a condition:
Gather only enough for the day.
If they tried to store it overnight (except before the Sabbath), it spoiled.
God was teaching daily dependence.
⸻
✍🏾 Devotional Reflection
Notice something powerful:
God did not give them weekly bread.
He gave them daily bread.
Why?
Because dependence grows when control shrinks.
If they had surplus stored up, they might stop trusting.
If they could hoard it, they might stop praying.
So God structured provision in a way that required relationship.
Each morning, they had to go out and gather what heaven provided.
That means yesterday’s manna would not sustain today’s hunger.
Spiritually, the same is true.
You cannot live today off:
• Yesterday’s sermon
• Last year’s breakthrough
• Old testimonies alone
God invites you into fresh, daily communion.
When Jesus later taught us to pray, He said:
“Give us this day our daily bread.”
Not next week’s.
Not next year’s.
Today’s.
God knows exactly what you need — and He promises to supply it one day at a time.

🔍 Reflection Questions
1. Am I trying to live spiritually off past experiences?
2. What is my daily rhythm of gathering from God?
3. Do I trust God for today — or do I try to control tomorrow?
⸻
🙏🏾 Prayer
Father, thank You for being my daily provider. Teach me to trust You one day at a time. Help me seek fresh manna each morning. Remove fear about tomorrow and strengthen my faith for today.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
