The name of the LORD is majestic in all the earth because of the glory of his creation, and because of the favor shown to mankind. We are created in God’s image and given dominion over his creation. Yet our lives and our rule has been marred by sin. Yet, this only proved the extent of God’s grace and love in sending his Son to become man, being the perfect image of God, and be the sacrifice of atonement for the sins of the world. Now Jesus is the name above all named, majestic in all the earth.

In these last days, the Lord has poured out his Spirit on all flesh to lead men to the salvation that Jesus has won for them. It shall come to pass that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

They will kill you in the name of Jesus Christ because you believe in Jesus Christ in order to reshape the name of Jesus Christ around their hatred of who Jesus Christ really is.

Save yourself from this crooked generation! That is how Peter ended his Pentecost sermon. He’s not saying that we save our own souls - Jesus does that. But this crooked generation is marked for destruction, and you are strongly encouraged to cut ties with the world and follow Jesus instead.

Jesus has called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. Trusting in him, our hearts need not be troubled. Moreover he prepares a place for us, a place fit for the King of heaven and earth himself, to share with his friends. Though Jesus returned to the Father, he has promised to hear and answer our prayers. And he promises to give us whatever we ask in his name, that is, in doing the greater work that he has given us to bring glory to his name.

It is a gracious thing to endure sorrow when suffering for doing good. Jesus not only left us an example to follow, but his suffering healed us so that we died to sin and rose to righteousness with a hope that transcends any sorrow and suffering.

In baptism, we have been born again into a living hope in the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. He has prepared a an inheritance for you that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you who are being guarded by faith.

St. Paul handed down as first importance what he had received: that Jesus died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he rose on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter and the twelve (and over 500 brothers at one time, and to James, and to all the apostles, and finally to Paul).
