As Pastor Appreciation Month comes to a close, let’s pray for our pastors’ kids.

They share in the life of our community in ways we may not always notice—including time with their parents that they generously share with others. Those gifts and sacrifices matter, even when they go unseen.

Pray that they would know deeply that they are God’s beloved, loved for who they are. May our community be a place where they can be themselves, grow in their own relationship with Jesus, and know that they are seen and loved.

To our pastors’ kids: We’re grateful for you. You matter to this community, and we love sharing life with you.

Take time today to walk through the P.R.A.Y. framework as we lean in collectively into this weekly rhythm and practice.

Pause - Be still. Turn your attention and your affection toward God.
Rejoice - Name three things you’re thankful for today.
Ask - Give God your needs and the needs of those in your circle of influence. Tell him your desire in each and ask Him to move.
Yield - Surrender your will to God’s. Declare your trust in Him and your desire for His will to be done in and through your life.

Faithfully engaging with others begins with understanding where they actually are.

Some people are curious about Jesus but hesitant about the church. Others are deeply committed to doing good in the world but have little interest in faith. Still others are growing in their faith but haven’t yet discovered what it means to live missionally.

As we close out our Spiritual Deepening Month we’re learning that faithfully engaging with others isn’t about assuming everyone needs the same thing. It’s about listening , understanding , and discerning how we might embody the good news of Jesus in ways that are meaningful.

This week’s practice: Discern your next step.

Consider someone in your circle. Where are they in their journey? What might a faithful next step in that relationship look like?

As we continue praying for our pastors this month, let’s pray for their families and friendships.

May they have meaningful time with the people they love and relationships where they can be known, encouraged, and cared for. May they have friendships where they can share honestly, laugh freely, and receive support—and may their family grow closer through love, laughter, and meaningful time together.

What does it really mean to dwell among the people around us?

John 1:14 tells us that Jesus came and made His dwelling among us. He didn’t simply visit or observe from a distance. He entered into life with us.

As people sent to embody the good news of Jesus, we’re invited into that same kind of faithful presence—in our neighborhoods, schools, workplaces, homes, and everyday relationships.

And how we dwell matters. Colossians 4:2–6 reminds us to engage others with wisdom, allowing our conversations to be full of grace and seasoned with salt.

Dwelling isn’t simply about being somewhere. It’s about how we choose to be present with the people around us.

This week’s practice: Dwell intentionally. Speak with grace.

As we continue praying for our pastors this month, let’s pray for rest and renewal.

This week, let’s pray that they would practice healthy rhythms of Sabbath. May they experience Jesus’ easy yoke and light burden as they center their lives in Him, finding renewal in body, mind, and spirit—and freedom to rest without guilt. (Matthew 11:28–30)

What if mission isn’t about finding somewhere new to go, but becoming more intentional with the people already around us?

This week, we’re considering our circle of influence—the people God has placed in our everyday lives and the relationships we’re invited to cultivate.

Some are the people we’re sent with—those with whom we share life, encouragement, and a commitment to following Jesus together.

Others are the people we’re sent to—neighbors, coworkers, and friends with whom we have opportunities to embody the good news of Jesus through our presence, love, and actions.

Both matter. And both begin with paying attention.

This week’s practice: Name your people. Take one step.

Who are you journeying with? Who has God placed in your everyday life? What’s one small, intentional step you could take toward deeper connection this week?

As we continue praying for our pastors this month, let’s pray for wisdom and discernment.

As they listen, make decisions, and care for people, pray that they would know God’s heart and hear His voice. May they have clarity to discern His leading and courage to say yes, even when other expectations would desire pull them in a different direction.

What changes when we stop thinking of church as “come and see” and begin to understand the church as “go and BE”?

If we are the sent people of God, the places we live, work, and play aren’t simply the backdrop of our lives. They are the places where we are called to faithful presence—to love, listen, serve, and embody the way of Jesus.

So this week, carry this question with you:
If I am sent, how does that change the way I see my presence in the places I live, work, and play?

Go. Be.

This Sunday, we begin Spiritual Deepening Month.

Throughout October, we’ll be exploring Context—what it means to pay attention to the people, places, and culture around us as we seek to live faithfully as followers of Jesus.

The gospel does not change. But faithfully embodying the good news of Jesus requires us to listen—to God and to the world around us. Where are we? Who are our neighbors? What is shaping this place? And what might faithful presence look like here and now?

This month is an invitation to slow down, notice, listen, and discern together. Listening deeply. Responding faithfully.
