Mental Health First Aid - Special Lay Servant Ministry Advanced Class

This class is open to all interested participants. You do not have to be a lay servant; however, any lay servant will receive a credit for an Advanced Lay Servant Ministries course.

Led by the Reverend Kathy Cinnamond, the class will meet on May 30 and June 6 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church, 1005 College St., Newberry, SC 29108.

No pre-registration is required.

Miracle Sunday, May 17, is a one-time special offering to benefit The Endowment Fund for Theological Education in Africa, Europe, and the Philippines. The purpose of this endowment is to offer theological, seminary training to people in these three areas who do not have the ready access to seminary training available here in the United States.

We are in the church season known as Eastertide; Sunday, May 3, is the 5th Sunday of Eastertide. This is the time the church celebrates Jesus' resurrection beginning on Easter Sunday and continuing to Pentecost Sunday, May 31, 2026. This season highlights and celebrates the formation of the early Church. The liturgical color for this season is white, symbolizing purity, joy, and victory over death.

Sending Forth Celebration will be Sunday, May 3, 4:00 p.m., at Main St. UMC in Greenwood. This is a time set aside to recognize those pastors moving to new appointments and to honor and say "thank you" to those pastors moving into retirement.

Worship begins at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary immediately followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.

Although this is the final clergy meeting of this Conference year, it is a time for families of the district clergy to meet, worship, and fellowship together.
