SMI Haiti / Sundouloi Ministries Helping The Haitian People Our name, “Sundouloi Ministries, Incorporated" (SMI Haiti), comes from the Greek “sundoulos” which means “fellow servant”.

It emphasizes our desire to join together with others of like-mind to fulfill the Lord’s commission to care for His children.

Yesterday was Flag Day in Haiti. It is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. The community began celebrating last Friday. In the midst of all of the turmoil, Haitians are proud of their heritage and of their flag. The first Haitian flag was sewn not too far from the Kamitan mission house, so the people in Arcahaie take special ownership of and pride in their flag.

Twin sisters, born in Guitton around 2013, are now thriving 7th graders at the SMI school. Watching these twins grow from infancy into the young girls they are today has been a joy and a privilege. Want to be part of stories like theirs? Visit our website to learn how you can invest in the lives of children in Haiti.

This is the newest baby in SMI's prenatal program. The picture of her mother was taken just a few days before giving birth. She is 21 years old and her husband passed away during her pregnancy. We welcome another child to the Kamitan community! You can help mothers like Eveline by donating at https://smihaiti.tpsdb.com/Give/prenatal-and-infant-care.

We are thankful for the generous donor who makes it possible for the children in Kamitan and Guitton to receive hot dogs and juice once a month. They really look forward to this day. We appreciate the young men in Haiti who have taken over the responsibility of doing this for the children.

Schools will be closed this week as Haiti celebrates Kanaval and the beginning of Lent. Last Friday, the students in Kamitan had their own celebration with costumes, music, and a special meal. The young men participated in a soccer match against another local school. They lost this match, but are looking forward to a rematch in May during the Flag Day celebrations.

TiJr leads "sport" at Kamitan school weekly. Class is held in the mission yard, and it often includes a soccer ball.

Join us and other missions in Haiti to pray for the country at this critical time.

Please pray for the people of Haiti as February 7th approaches. Historically, this is the day when new presidents are inaugurated in Haiti. Without a president since the assassination of Jovenel Moise in July of 2021, a Presidential Transitional Council was formed in 2024 to conduct new elections with their mandate ending this Saturday, February 7, 2026. With a failure to hold elections, there is no new president to inaugurate and a general uncertainty about how Haiti will move forward once the Council's mandate expires. The tensions in Haiti are rising and some political jockeying has begun. This week US Navy and Coast Guard ships entered Haitian waters, which have people on alert. Because of all of this and the continued instability and gang violence, we ask you to join us in lifting up the people of Haiti before the throne of God this week. Pray that God would, in His Mercy, grant wisdom, clear leadership, and lasting peace. Pray God might shelter families displaced from their homes, comfort with safety the communities suffering gang violence, provide food and medicine to those who lack it. Pray for missionaries and local churches to be strong witnesses for Christ in these uncertain times. May God fill us with faith for a brighter future and equip us with the strength and courage required to continue to labor towards that goal for His Glory.

The church in Kamitan is sending twelve young people to Hope on a String, a local cultural center, to study dance, singing, and music. The church is paying the fees but is looking for help with transportation. For just $11 a month you can make sure the young people are able to take advantage of this opportunity, I will contact the first person to volunteer in the comments and give information on how to set up a monthly payment to SMI.
