How can you trust God in the midst of your circumstances today?🥰

How can you trust God in the midst of your circumstances today?🥰

Some days it feels like a cloud of gloom hangs over the earth. People die. Things break. Health is fragile. Relationships are complicated. At times I wish following God would protect us from these kinds of difficulties.

But God’s Word reminds me He doesn’t promise a problem-free life. Rather, He is our shelter in the midst of life’s storms. Thankfully, the clouds of gloom aren’t permanent.

The Lord has a plan. He asks us to trust Him while we wait patiently and confidently for His plan to unfold. I don’t know what cloud of gloom has been hanging over your life lately, but I know that one day, God will clear those clouds. Until then, we can cling to Him as our refuge and continue to praise Him until that day comes.

Lord, You are my refuge. You are my shelter in the storms I’m facing today. I don’t see how it will all work out, but I will praise You anyway. When the circumstances of my life heat up, help me to run to Your shade. Lord, I need help with patience. I don’t like to wait, but trusting You helps me to wait more confidently, knowing You have an ultimate plan. I choose to be glad and rejoice in Your salvation today. In Jesus’ name, amen.

How can you trust God in the midst of your circumstances today?

So often I’ve prayed for Jesus to move spectacularly in my life and the lives of others, to do the marvelous, to work miracles. But do I see the power of His teaching, and incidentally my obedience to His Word, as important as His supernatural workings?

Where are you trusting God today?

I want life to be as predictable as a math problem. Two plus two always equals four. It will equal four today, tomorrow and into the tomorrows years from now.

Math equations don’t experience breakups and letdowns. They don’t get cancer. Or have their best friend get transferred and move across the country. They don’t have affairs or unmatched affections. They are highly predictable. Therefore, math equations are easy to trust.

But sometimes, life doesn’t add up. Sometimes people don’t add up. And in the rawest moments of honest hurting, sometimes we can’t make sense of what God is allowing. All of which makes us hold our trust ever so close to our chests until it becomes more tied to our fears than to our faith.

It’s in these times I have to tie my heart to soul-steadying verses like Hebrews 13:5b-6, which says: “For God has said, ‘I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.’ So we can say with confidence, ‘The LORD is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?’”

The peace of our souls does not have to rise and fall with unpredictable people or situations. Our feelings will shift, of course. People do affect us. But the peace of our souls is tethered to all God is. And though we can’t predict His specific plans, the fact that God will work everything together for good is a completely predictable promise.

Lord, I can’t thank You enough for the promise that I can trust You at all times. Even though people may fail me … even though others may abandon me … You never will. I’m choosing to let that truth steady my heart today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

I don’t believe we can understand everything all the time. God’s wisdom is “a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began” (1 Corinthians 2:7b, NIV).

That’s one of the many things that makes Him God and you and me human. What I do have is the light already given to me in the Bible: Love God and love people.

Those two are enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.

Dear Jesus, figuring out the answers to our dilemmas can be hard sometimes. They are not as clear as we’d like them to be. Thank You for Your Word to point us to You and show us just how we can make our next right move. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
