Episcopal Church of the Nativity

Episcopal Church of the Nativity A Christian community in Greenwood, Mississippi, where all are welcome.

For over a century, this Christian community has helped support each other in times of both joy and sorrow. Whether gathering for a baptism, a marriage, a funeral, or a regular Sunday morning, our life together is rooted in prayer and in the hope we have because of Jesus Christ.

Nativity will host the Greenwood Chorale for its next concert which will celebrate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!

Chorale will present “Our Heritage: A 250th Celebration” in the Nativity Parish Hall on Tuesday, June 23, at 7 p.m.

We are especially delighted that Fr. Don will serve as one of the featured narrators for the evening, and Alicia, Charles, Melanie, and Cam will be performing as part of the group.

This special program commemorates the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding through a collection of patriotic and inspirational music, including special arrangements of favorites such as America the Beautiful and a tribute to the armed forces.

Chorale is led under the direction of Paul Brown, and the singers will be accompanied by piano and cello.

We hope many from our parish family will join us for this wonderful evening of music and storytelling.

Today, on Trinity Sunday, we enjoyed the annual gathering of Nativity and Advent for a Rogation service at the home of Billy and Melanie.

Together we offered prayers for our farmers, for the land, for favorable weather, and for all those whose labor helps provide.

After the service, we shared a wonderful potluck lunch and enjoyed time together as a parish family.

Thank you to Billy and Melanie for their hospitality and to everyone who helped make it such a special day.

Nativity is honored to be featured in the Summer 2026 edition of The Anglican Digest.

The article highlights our history and a congregation whose membership is among the youngest in our diocese and the wider Church.

It also shines a light on some of the ministries that define our parish life including the St. Nicholas Project, the Community Thanksgiving Service, A Day of Giving, and our ongoing work in ecumenical ministry and racial reconciliation through partnerships with churches and organizations across our community.

We are grateful for everyone who helps make Nativity a place of worship and service.

Most of all, we are thankful for the ways the Holy Spirit continues to move in and among us, drawing people together and calling us into the work God has set before us.

We had a wonderful Mother’s Day service this morning at Nativity. Our children sang beautifully, our teens served throughout the Mass by reading, ushering, and leading the Prayers of the People, and the church was full of young acolytes.

We also celebrated the graduation of Benz Porter, a standout athlete from Pillow Academy, as he prepares to attend Mississippi State this fall.

We are proud of Benz and all of our young people who helped make today such a special day!

A big thanks to Rachael, Alicia, and Charles for helping arrange and oversee the service.
