You are Invited!
In our Torah Portion for this last week Moses told Israel that every seven years, in the Sh’mittah year, they are to read the Torah scroll to all the people during the Festival of Sukkot (Tabernacles) Deut 31:10. In the next verse he tells us why. “Gather the people—the men and women and little ones, and the outsider within your town gates—so they may hear and so they may learn, and they will fear ADONAI your God and take care to do all the words of this Torah. Deuteronomy 31:12.
As I am sure you have noticed, few in this country or in this world fear God. Our Congregation B’nai Yeshurun Messianic Jewish Congregation 107 6th Ave, Greenwood, Mo 64034, has taken it upon themselves to read through the Torah on Sunday, Oct 12th 2025 during Sukkot, beginning at 7 am until we are finished. And you are invited to be a part of it.
This is not a Sh’mittah year. Actually, we are three years into our next seven year period and six months away from that notorious three-and-a-half-year mark of the seven year period as spoken about in the scriptures.
In the words of Abram Poljak, this a “huge task of a small community”. Because the evilness and so many people today calling evil, good and good, evil, it is our prayer that the fear of God will return to those that call him Lord.
Many people do not realize the dangerous place this country finds itself in when our President takes it upon himself to tell the people of Israel what they can or can’t do with the Land in which God gave to them as an inheritance in a covenant with himself. This could backfire on the Unites States in a very negative way. It is thought by many that when Jerusalem was recognized as the capital of Israel by President Trump in 2017 that the times of the Gentiles has been fulfilled (Luke 21:24).
In line with His prophetic time clock, we see the anger of God being released on this world through the hate of people groups. It is an unprecedented force unseen in the past. Unless the people who call the Lord, Lord, rise up and lift up His name, this will only get worse.
Many people end their speech saying “God bless America.” We are so past that. From this reading of the Torah, we are asking God to “have mercy on America.”
For those that would like to take part in the reading of the first five books of the Bible, call or text your name, time preference and how long you would like to read to 816-699-4709 (Fifteen minutes minimum) and we will schedule you in. If you would just like to listen as it is read, please be our guest. Those that don tefillin are encouraged to wear them.
It is time that the people of God become holy again.
