Engines revved and families wandered between rows of cars as the Knights of Columbus debuted their first Columbus Hope Cruise-In, a fundraiser supporting children with disabilities in Greenwood County.

The Knights of Columbus, a men’s organization through Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, raises money annually for the Columbus HOPE Foundation Inc.

The foundation provides grants for local special education teachers to purchase supplemental classroom materials, helping create more accessible learning environments for their students.

The idea for this year’s cruise-in came from Paul Cuenin, who wanted a fundraiser that brought people together in a meaningful but enjoyable way.

The Knights of Columbus presented a check for $1,000 to Burton Center today for the Greenhouse Project. "We are grateful for this generous donation. With these funds, we will be able to purchase gardening supplies to provide the opportunity for individuals with special needs to enhance their knowledge of gardening, develop vocational skills, and experience the joy of nurturing living things," stated Wendy Owens, Greenhouse Project Coordinator.

We had a great time at the First Responders Lunch on Wednesday the 17th at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. We were able to feed over 150 First Responders to thank them for the tireless work they do.
