At sunset, the day shifts. Yom HaZikaron (Israel’s Memorial Day) ends, and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel’s Independence Day) begins. The focus moves from remembering those who lost their lives in service to the country to recognizing and celebrating the establishment of the State of Israel. We remember, we honor, we celebrate.

From sundown on April 13 through nightfall on April 14, we observe Yom HaShoah. During this time, we pause to remember the six million Jews who were murdered in the Holocaust and to honor the strength and resilience of those who survived. As we reflect on the importance of family, we hold close the memories of lives, traditions, and generations that were lost. May their memory be a blessing, and may we carry it forward with compassion, unity, and a deep commitment to never forget.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Bagels & Bibles. It is always so meaningful to learn and connect together.

We also invite you to support our members, Bea Bloom and Marc Appelbaum, as they observe the yahrzeit of their father. We are hoping to gather a minyan so they may recite Kaddish and honor his memory. Your presence is truly a gift of community.

Please note there is no Shabbat Potluck this Friday.

Thank you for all you do to make B’nai Torah such a welcoming and connected place.

A Note From the Board

Dear Shul Family,

We hope you will join us next weekend for Bibles and Bagels with Lenny on Saturday, February 28. Lenny brings insight, warmth, and thoughtful discussion to our time together, and bagels will be generously provided by Marc Appelbaum. It’s a wonderful way to connect with the Torah and with each other.

We are also approaching Purim, March 2–3, a holiday that reminds us of courage, faith, and the strength to stand up for what is right. The story of Queen Esther teaches us that even when things feel uncertain, each of us carries an inner strength that can help guide the way forward.

We look forward to being together.

With warmth,
Debbie and Devon
