Here in the United States Christians are able to worship freely. We get to come to Big Church and Kids Church every Sunday, or more. We can openly wear shirts speaking of our love for Jesus or play Christian music in our cars.

This was not the case during the early parts of the church. Christians had to hide their faith or risk jail or worse.

During Rome VBS kids will experience the Underground Church. They will meet in a dark place, witness a narrow escape by Roman guards, and have to pray, sing, and talk quietly to keep from being found.

Yesterday in the Be Like Jesus series, kids explored Ephesians 4 in God’s big story. While in prison, Paul writes a letter to Jesus-followers in Ephesus, urging them to put aside their differences and live in unity with the help and power of the Holy Spirit.

In our Be Like Jesus series, we’ll keep discovering how God invites us to look more like Jesus each month, year, and decade of our lives. Yet, all our determination and best effort will not get us there. It is only with the help of God’s Spirit that we become like Jesus. During this series, you’ll join kids in exploring teachings from the New Testament that will lift the burden of self-powered character development and reveal the freedom that comes when we partner with the Holy Spirit on the journey of becoming like Jesus.
