Greg wasn’t the only AHBC pastor getting in some peer-learning (and a little fun!) last week! 🌿⚾

rev.mallory.challis spent time at the Catholic Conference Center in Hickory, NC, with a cohort of early-career youth pastors. They shared experiences, dreamed about the next two years of ministry, spent time in silence reflecting on scripture and in prayer—and made plenty of room for fun and fellowship along the way.

We’re grateful for spaces where our pastors can learn, reflect, build community, and come back refreshed for the work ahead. 💜💚

A little learning, a little hiking, and a whole lot of time around tables and fire pits. 🌿🔥

Greg spent his peer learning week in the beautiful mountains of Valle Crucis with pastors from other churches—sharing wisdom, encouragement, and support as they talked about church leadership, ministry, and all that comes with it.

The week included participating in an installation service, hiking at Linville Falls, plenty of conversation around tables and fire pits, time enjoying the cabins and fields of Valle Crucis, and even a little Wendell Berry along the way. 📖

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that give pastors space to learn from one another, support one another, and return to their congregations renewed and encouraged.

💜 Welcome to the AHBC Family! 💚

We had the joy of officially welcoming some new members to Augusta Heights on Sunday!

Kendra and Sarah Russell-Walker, pictured with their son, AJ, shared why they chose to make AHBC their church home:

“We chose Augusta Heights because we found a church that was incredibly welcoming for all. We feel like we found a church that feels like home.”

We also officially welcomed Eric McAbee, husband of AHBC member David Raulston! While Eric wasn’t able to be with us in person on Sunday, he recently shared during a pastoral visit that the warmth and genuine sense of community at Augusta Heights keep drawing him back. He knew this was where he wanted to continue growing in his faith—and he didn’t want to wait any longer to make it official. So on Sunday, we joyfully welcomed Eric as a member in absentia!

Kendra, Sarah, AJ, Eric, and David—we are so glad you are part of the Augusta Heights community. Welcome home! 💜💚

“Who do you say Jesus is?”

That was the question we asked our congregation during worship today—and these were their answers. 💜

Teacher. Friend. Love. Comforter. Advocate. Hope. Healer. Guide. Someone who walks alongside us. The one who loves us.

Some answers came with certainty. Others came with questions, searching, and “I’m figuring it out.” And there is room for all of those answers here.

Because faith isn’t always about having the perfect words or the most certain answer. Sometimes it’s simply being willing to wrestle with the question:

Who do you say Jesus is?
