Easter Sunday celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, marking victory over sin and death, and offering eternal hope. It is a day to rejoice in the empty tomb, acknowledging that Jesus is alive, reigns as King, and invites believers into a transformed life of purpose, joy, and new beginnings.

On that first Easter morning, the women expecting to find a scene of death found an empty tomb and an angelic announcement that changed history. The empty tomb is the cornerstone of Christian faith—it means Jesus is not just a historical figure, but a living Savior.

How does the reality of the resurrection change the way you view your current struggles?

Read Luke 24:1-9 and share the message of hope—that Jesus is alive—with someone today.

Holy Saturday is a day of mourning, but not a day without hope. Jesus' day in the tomb reminds us that we will all know death. We will watch the death of our loved ones. Eventually, we will all fall asleep one last time. But Holy Saturday is good news because Jesus announces that death is never more than a nap. In Jesus, death is a day of rest before the dawn of a new creation and a much needed break before a new era of renewed and resurrection life.

The gift of Holy Saturday is that we are able to behold the dead body of Jesus and know that, against all odds, there is a way out of the tomb. There is a tomorrow that will greet us at dawn with the compassion, tenderness, and deliverance of God.

Saturday is the day we each must answer these questions:

Do you believe a resurrection is coming?
Do you believe God is who He says He is?

Friday is the day Jesus died. Read Matthew 27:51-54. The veil that separated the Holy of Holies in the Temple was torn in two, symbolizing that because of Jesus’ death, we now have direct access to God.

As you reflect on this Holy Week, what words, signs, or actions of Jesus stand out to you, pointing to how He truly is the Son of God? In what ways has Jesus revealed more of His love to you over the course of the Holy Week? If you have doubts or questions, ask Jesus to reveal Himself in those areas.

Now that His time had come to leave the world, Jesus focused on showing the disciples what He wanted them to remember: the full extent of His love. On their last evening together, Jesus broke social and cultural norms to show the disciples His love in a tangible way. Read John 13:1-20.

Close your eyes and imagine Jesus washing your feet. Is there anything preventing you from allowing Jesus to wash your feet? How can you be in a posture of receiving this foot washing from Jesus?

On the final night before His crucifixion, Jesus instituted what we now call Holy Communion, the Lord’s Supper, or the Eucharist - not only for the twelve disciples but for all people and all generations to come. Remember how the early Christians in Acts ate together with “glad and generous hearts” (Acts 2:46 ESV).

After the last supper, Jesus took His disciples to pray at the garden of Gethsemane. He knew the suffering that was coming. Though sinless, Jesus was going to carry the full weight of the sins of the world on the cross. Read Matthew 26:36-46.

How do you pray when you’re overwhelmed with disappointment, sorrow, or anger? Jesus’ prayer shows that you can come to the Father in your hurting humanity. You do not have to wipe your tears or calm down before you kneel before the throne of God. If surrender is difficult, simply pray, “Help me pray, Your will be done.”

Wednesday was the turning point. Following Jesus’ actions in the Temple, the chief priest and elders began plotting how to arrest and kill Jesus. Later that day Judas Iscariot approached them to betray Jesus. Amid this opposition, Simon threw a dinner party for Jesus where Mary boldly broke social norm by pouring imported perfume, worth a year’s wages, over Jesus’ head. Mary did not care about breaking the social norm because her focus was on loving Jesus. Her gift represented a giving of her whole self.

Read Mark 14:1-10.

What are some tangible ways you are presently worshipping Jesus with how you spend your time, talent, or treasure? Think creatively about how you would like to do so in the future, even if it may mean breaking with convention.

Jesus’ actions in the temple has created an uproar. When Jesus returned to the Temple courts on Tuesday, the chief priests, teachers of the law, and elders immediately approached Him to question His authority to do such things. The Pharisees saw Jesus as a threat to their religious authority. So they, teamed up with the Herodians, to trick Jesus by posing this question: Should they pay taxes to Caesar?

Read Mark 12:13-17 to find His answer.

Ponder what it would look like to live as if everything belonged to God. How would that posture change your relationship with your money and possessions? How would that impact how you invest in meeting others’ needs?

On Holy Monday, Jesus condemned those who made a show of piety but took advantage of vulnerable people in His house. He welcomed those who came to Him in honesty and humility. How do you come to Jesus?

What are some ways you can cultivate an authentic relationship with Jesus rather than just going through religious motions?

Think about how Jesus welcomes you with love and open arms.

As we enter Holy Week, we welcome Christ riding on a donkey into Jerusalem by laying palms on His path. We invite you to read Luke 19:28-44 and respond by asking Jesus to make your heart like His, that you may notice and deeply care about the things He cares about.

Comment one thing that God has given you a passion for or drawn your attention to that reflects His heart.
