Thanks to everyone for your presence and your kindness. We really can't find the words to describe how our hearts felt and continue to feel. We are joyful and thankful for God's grace and mercy. Again, we thank you for your kindness, love, and presence.๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’•๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŽŠ

Sermon: Just Right for the Job
Scripture: Philippians 2:19-22 KJV

[19] But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. [20] For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. [21] For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's. [22] But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 86
Psalm 86 was written by David, and it is a straightforward plea for Godโ€™s help in a day of trouble. David asked for Godโ€™s help, mercy, grace, and encouragement to get him through a time of oppression brought on by insolent and godless men.

Loving Father, there is no one like You, and I praise and worship You for Your love toward me. Help me to tear down any false god or foolish idol that I have created in my own imagination. You alone are worthy of my worship, praise, and thanksgiving. I pray that the rest of my life may be set aside completely for You, in willing obedience and humble devotion, and for Your praise and glory. This I ask in Jesus' name, AMEN.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 84 & 85

Psalm 84

The sons of Korah dedicated Psalm 84 to talking about their love for being in the presence of God, specifically the Temple in Jerusalem. According to them, there was no better place to be, and those who travelled to Jerusalem to worship at the Temple had their footsteps blessed by God. They wrote that a day in Godโ€™s courts as a servant (doorkeeper) was better than any day living with the wicked.

Psalm 85

After a period of sin and repentance, the author of Psalm 85 asks the Lord to show mercy to his people. He asked God to turn away His anger from their nation and restore their land. He longed for Godโ€™s salvation, and to see faithfulness springing up from the ground and righteousness filling the sky.

Heavenly Father, how I praise You that Your loving-kindness and tender mercies are new every morning. No matter where I am or how far I have fallen, You are faithful and just to forgive me of my sins, to cleanse me of all my faults, and to draw me back to Yourself with your cords of love and grace. Thank You, in Jesus' name, AMEN.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 83
In Psalm 83, Asaph, the author, asked God to fight against the nations that wanted to destroy Israel. They wanted to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Asaph called on God to give His people the victory, and to shame the enemies so they would know that the Lord alone is the โ€œMost High over all the earth.

Good morning Father. As I look back over my life all I can say is thank You. I ask for forgiveness for all sins knowing and unknowing. What a mighty God You are. You are always there for me. When I am down You pick me up. Thank You Lord. I sometimes wonder why You love me so but today all I can say is thank You. Oh how wonderful You are. One thing I know for sure is that You are always on by my side. Father bless those who read this prayer with health, wealth and wisdom. I love You Lord. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Praise God for allowing us to see another day. This is week 11 of our journey through the Psalms. Psalm 82 is a prayer based on asking God to bring divine justice, defend the vulnerable, and hold earthly leaders accountable. Yes, God does care.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 82

Psalm 82 pictures God sitting in His divine council assessing the work of those to whom He has delegated authority on earth. He looks at the rulers of the nations in disappointment, seeing that they have been oppressors rather than helpers of the oppressed. God reminds them that they are not eternal like Him, they will die and be called into judgement for their actions.

Dear God, I know that it is Your will to help those that are afflicted, to support the weak, to provide for the widows and orphans and to help those that are in need.

Use my hands to be of service to those in need, and use my voice to speak words of healing and encouragement to those that are afflicted and in distress. Thank You for hearing my prayer. In Jesus' name, Amen.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 81

Psalm 81 begins with the psalmist calling on the people of Israel to worship God according to His law, to sing to Him and celebrate the prescribed holy days. As the Israelites were preparing to celebrate these feast days, the psalmist wanted them to look back at their history and the promises God had made to their nation. He encouraged them to give their hearts solely to God and worship Him alone.

๐Ÿ™ [COPIED]

Dear Lord, I come before you today claiming the promise in Psalm 81:6 that says, โ€œI removed his shoulder from the burden. His hands were freed from the basket.โ€ I thank you for your promise to remove the burdens from my life and to free me from the things that weigh me down. I pray that you would help me to trust in your promise and to rely on your strength to carry me through the challenges of life. May my hands be free to serve you and to do your will, and may my heart be filled with gratitude for all that you have done for me. In Jesusโ€™ name, I pray. Amen.

Book 3: The third book (Psalms 73โ€“89) reminds us that God is all around us.

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 80

In Psalm 80, the psalmist compares the nation of Israel to a vine. The vine once flourished in the care of God, but God had turned His back on the vine, leaving it to be burned, because of the sins of the people. The psalmist, sensing that Israel was ready to repent, asked God to restore the vine and to make His face shine on His people once again.

Trusting God in every season of life requires faith, patience, and a heart that seeks Him daily. Psalm 80 reminds us of the importance of calling on God for restoration, deliverance, and renewal.

Heavenly Father,

Revive our hearts and renew our commitment to You. Too often, we drift away, forgetting the joy of walking closely with You. But we long for a deeper relationship, one built on faithfulness and trust. Help us to remain steadfast, even in difficult seasons. Teach us to seek You with all our hearts.

Let Your presence shine upon us. Guide our steps so we do not turn away again. Fill us with a passion to know You more each day. Strengthen our faith and help us walk in obedience. Thank You for Your unending grace and love. In Jesus' name. Amen!

A SUMMER THROUGH THE PSALMS

DAY(S) 79

Psalm 79 is very reminiscent of Psalm 74 and appears to describe the same events, namely the destruction of Jerusalem and the captivity of Godโ€™s people by the Babylonians. Asaphโ€™s main intention in writing this psalm was to call out to God to avenge His people and His honorable name against their godless enemies.

Father God, as you know there are storms in life. These storms are no fun, but they will not sway me from following you and thanking you for your gifts and continued love. Iโ€™m weathering a storm now, and I am not alone in that. I have heard from so many others over the past few weeks who are in their own storms. Battles are raging. Thank you so much for reminding me that you are here, in this storm right alongside me always and I can either cling to you and your truth, or give in to the storm. I choose you, Father. I am your sheep forever, thanks to you. I will follow you and I will give thanks to you forever, so that, from generation to generation, we will recount your praises. I pray that others facing battles will see you and choose you, as well.

Thank you, Lord, for guiding me. I love you. In your Sonโ€™s precious name, Amen!
