The work has begun! The team was up early this morning ready to go. Gichagah Duncan loaded the team up and off to Shalom. Saws, shovels, wheel barrows, hammers, lifting the lumber are going. The house is going up! Great progress today declared Robert M Muteithia project leader.

The Sunbelt team is settling in traveling to Nyeri today from Thika. The day was full as they met with Sunbelt Partners at Nyeri Baptist Church (Elizabeth, Margaret, and Pastor Peter) to experience the Orphan, Vulnerable Children Partnership. They traveled to the Outspan Hotel to settle in for the week. The Kenyan team is so excited by the enthusiasm and "ready to go" attitude of the Sunbelt team. Tomorrow they travel to Shalom for worship and meeting their partners and receiptent of a new home that they will help construct.

After a very long day of travel, our team has arrived with eager hearts and greeted by our dear friend Duncan! They are ready to reconnect with our Kenyan friends and begin the work ahead. We ask for your prayers over the group as they settle in, find rest, and prepare for the days to come.

This group is the 8th team from Sunbelt to travel to Kenya and spread sunshine while working alongside our partners.

While there, the team will be building a home for a retired couple in the community. Elisheba, the wife, faithfully serves orphans and vulnerable families that Sunbelt supports through our partnership. Due to her husband’s illness, they have been unable to build a proper home and have been living in a structure that was originally meant to house chickens. Their teenage son, who is deaf and mute, also lives with them.

It’s an honor to come alongside someone who spends her life faithfully serving others in a community we care so deeply about.

This build will also be part of a pilot effort to include a concrete floor instead of a dirt floor — improving durability, health, and long-term living conditions for the family.

Please keep the team, Elisheba’s family, and this project in your prayers. We can’t wait to share more from the journey.
